While I’m not usually one for subscriptions, I’m all about automation to make things easier. Between multiple work ventures, a relationship, maintaining my mental health, trying to workout and keep myself healthy, getting sleep, being a good friend, seeing family, keeping the house clean, remembering to drink water, taking care of the dog, decorating, gardening, the list goes on and on and on… I feel like I’m constantly juggling a million things, sometimes more or less successfully than others. And I know every single person reading this can relate! No matter if you’re a mom, going back to school, trying to climb the corporate ladder, or both/all, it rarely seems like there are enough hours in the day.
So I wanted to share a little something that I only recently started implementing to remember a few small things in case it helps any of you, too… Auto-Ship! While the 5% savings itself isn’t much of a draw, it’s something. But with the products I have set to auto-ship, it’s more about the reminder and/or peace of mind.
Brita Filter | It was our Brita Filter that actually made me think to put more things on auto-ship! I buy the longest-lasting filter, that’s supposed to last ~six months. Instead of setting a calendar reminder to swap it out, I set it to ship once every six months. So now I know it’s time to switch it out whenever it’s delivered! (PS: This is the Brita tank we keep in the fridge!)
Toothbrush Heads | These are a little trickier because you can’t buy just one at a time. But I try to change my Sonicare toothbrush head every two months, so I have a three-pack set to auto-deliver every six months. I still have to remember every two months, but I try to remember by switching it on the first of every even-numbered month. February (2), April (4), June (6), etc.
Nespresso Pods | There’s nothing worse than running out of coffee. You know I’m obsessed with my Nespresso and always shopping for and stocking up on the latest seasonal flavors! But I actually have a three-pack of the Melozio coffee pods (30 total) set to auto-deliver every two months. There are two of us drinking coffee every morning, but sometimes I’m having a seasonal or a can of cold brew, or sometimes we’re walking to get coffee, traveling, etc. So far, 30 pods every two months has been a good refill cadence for us!
Marley’s Dog Food | Dave was actually the first person I ever knew to have something on Amazon’s auto-ship. Or maybe that’s the one thing my friends and I just never really talked about? Who knows. But Dave has Marley’s dog food on auto-ship so she never runs out! It’s on his Amazon account so I’m not sure of the exact cadence, but I believe it’s roughly every month or every six weeks.
This is a totally random side note about dog food, but her food has been a major topic of conversation lately. As she gets older (she will be nine in March!), we want to do everything we can to keep her in the best health. I’ve been experimenting with mixing in some real food into her diet, but it’s *so* expensive. Dave also thinks it could be time to switch her to the senior version of her dog food. I would love to hear your thoughts if you’ve tried any of the real food diets like Just Food for Dogs (which she’s loved!), The Farmer’s Dog, etc.
Zyrtec | I just set this to auto-refill because it’s bad news when I run out. I take a Zyrtec every morning (my two Zs… Zyrtec and Zoloft! 🤪) and sometimes have to take another later in the day, too. Yes, I should probably see an allergist, but I manage by never letting myself skip a dose.
Affresh Tablets | The only other thing I’ve got on auto-ship is Affresh Tablets! I need to do a whole post about the trials and tribulations of our washing machine 🙄 and what’s helped with the mildew smell, but Affresh Tablets definitely do help. I have the three-pack set to deliver every month, and that helps remind me to clean the filter and do a back-to-back tub clean cycle. I use the third tablet for a tub clean mid-month!
I just recently discovered that Sephora has a similar feature that’s called Auto Replenish… Kind of genius for your holy grail products! (You can see it here.) I’ve yet to experiment with it, but I’d love to hear your thoughts on all things auto-ship!
Am I late to the game here? Have you tried setting auto-ship reminders? What else should I have on auto-replenish?! Let me know!
I may be stating the obvious, but have you tried leaving the washing machine door open after every cycle? That way it will get a chance to thoroughly dry inside and that should help the mildew smell.
Love this topic! It’s fascinating to hear what you have on auto-ship, a similar feeling of when people share a “what’s in my bag” post.
I have our HVAC home filters on auto ship, along with fridge water and air filters!
I love Farmer’s Dog! It is expensive, and takes up a lot of room in your freezer, but I think it’s worth it! My dog loves it and I love that it’s real food and good for him.
I have the Earth Rated Dog Poop Bags (270 pack) on auto ship, every 3 months. I use these everyday so it’s super convenient to have them auto shipped!
I also get my dogs heartworm & flea medicine auto shipped from Chewy. Big fan of auto shipping pet stuff 🙂
Autoship has been such a blessing in my life. I love finding new ways to run my life more efficiently.
