Hiiii! My name is Jessica and I’m a thirty-something currently living in the Gold Coast in Chicago. I grew up in a small town in Illinois, but prior to moving back to the midwest, I spent a good chunk of my post-grad life living in New York City. While NYC and the East Coast will always hold a special place in my heart, I’ve grown to like calling the Windy City home. (For now!)
Bows & Sequins is a fashion-focused lifestyle blog where you’ll find posts about my personal style and current sartorial inspirations, tidbits on living a healthy lifestyle (or trying to!), my two cents on beauty products, ideas for decorating, and adventures from my everlasting wanderlust.
I’m kind of a coffee snob, a bit of a foodie, and a self-proclaimed cocktail connoisseur. Rosé all day, though. You can usually find me eating and drinking my way through the city, quite literally. As a result, I’ve learned to become bit of a fitness freak, too. When I’m not crossing new restaurants off of my ever-growing list, you can probably find me at a workout class. I’m a huge fan of SoulCycle, Orange Theory, hot yoga, and megaformer classes like Lagree & SLT.
I like to think of my style as feminine, polished, and playful. Ever-evolving, too. I used to be predominantly preppy, but living downtown in New York City for three years definitely influenced my clothing choices. I may not wear bows and sequins everyday, but I like to think of my blog name as more of a metaphor for how I like life to be — a whole lot of fun.
I’m never one to shy away from color, but sometimes I like to keep it classic with a whole lot of neutrals. I totally dress to my mood and whatever I’m feeling inspired by that day! Some days it’s comfy & casual and super practical, other days I’m dressed up in heels and a fit & flare dress.
Here are a few of my favorite blog posts over the last ten years….
Style | Leaf Love, Black Maxi at the Beach, Stripes & Straw for Summer, Plaid + OTK Boots, What I Wear When I Travel, Day to Night in a Little White Dress, A Weekend in Napa, GNO at Hampton Social, Trend to Try: 90’s, Derby Day Style
