If you feel like you’re in a bit of a wardrobe slump, you’re not alone. My girlfriends and I, as well as a lot of my styling clients, have been talking about the struggles we’ve been feeling when we’re getting dressed lately… Pre-pandemic fashion seems *totally* different than what’s ‘in’ now, body shapes and sizes have changed due to pregnancies and lifestyle changes, not resonating with the current trends, etc. Especially after getting so used to being comfortable for the last two and a half years, it’s hard to find the motivation to be anything but!
I sort of started this little challenge after Labor Day when I felt like I was in a bit of a slump. This summer, I’d wake up and end up working at my desk in my pajamas all morning until Marley’s lunch walk, at which point I’d put on a pair of workout clothes to go outside, keep working, and then actually work out after work. Shower, put on new pajamas, eat dinner, go to sleep, repeat. Comfy? Absolutely. But I wasn’t feeling so cute!
When I was in middle school, and maybe even high school, most of our teachers/coaches would make us dress up for school on game days. When you feel good, you’re more likely to hit your highest potential. And when you look great, it definitely helps you feel great, too! It’s a win, win all around.
When it comes to changing habits and achieving goals, accountability is the name of the game for me. So that’s why I’m sharing this here! During the month of October, I’m going to be challenging myself to get dressed in a cute outfit each work day. If you need an accountability partner, you can tag me on your IG Stories, or even just DM me a picture of your outfit.
Will it happen every single day?? Probably not. But progress is better than perfection! Plus, fall weather is some of the most fun to dress for and October is the best fall month so it will be fun to rediscover our closets a little bit this month.
Old Navy Tee | Utility Pants | Phone Case
When I was getting the feel for an outfit challenge in the beginning of September, some days it just looked like this. Putting on actual pants, a tee shirt, and brushing my hair. And that’s okay! It’s just about feeling a bit more confident and getting used to our closets again. (PS: Nap Dresses are a total godsend for this challenge, too!)
