Trend to Try: Cable Knit Jacket

Fashion blog Bows & Sequins shares a roundup of Cable Knit Jackets within the puffer jacket trend!

If there’s one single coat that’s caught my eye this winter, it’s the cable knit jacket. Cable knit PUFFER jackets, to be specific. It’s the look of a cable knit cardigan, but in the form of a cropped puffer coat. It’s slightly sporty, but very apres ski chic and I’m obsessed! That Aspen vibe that’s very ski bunny chic, you know? Can’t get it out of my head.

I first saw the Herno version at a store in the suburbs. Then I saw the Moncler version on a chic woman at my Lagree class. And then I did some digging and found the really cute Perfect Moment version. 🤑 I finally found the Ralph Lauren cable knit jacket and somehow $698 felt like a steal compared to the rest. Those of us women on a budget needed some affordable alternatives, so I got to work sourcing similar knitted styles!

Splurge-Worthy Cable Knit Puffers

From Miu Miu to Moncler, there are countless splurge-worthy styles to get inspiration from! If a designer cable knit jacket is in your budget, there are lots of sales to take advantage of right now, too.

Polo Ralph Lauren Cable-Knit Hooded Down Coat

I’m absolutely obsessed with this jacket! It’s so, so chic. It’s 90% merino wool with 10% cashmere. It also has a removable hood which gives you options. Currently on sale for $489!

I found this jacket available from two different stores in the United Kingdom that both ship to the US with free delivery! You can shop it on The Hut as well as Coggles.

Perfect Moment Kate Cable-Knit Quilted Jacket

This cable-knit puffer coat is made from 100% merino wool with a 100% feather down lining. It’s one of my favorite new arrivals from the brand! While most of these other styles would be perfect for apres ski, Perfect Moment is known for their technical, high-performance fabrics. So you know this jacket (that looks like a wool sweater) is going to be wearable ON the mountain, too! Plus, you can even machine wash the coat.

Nicole Benisti Kensington Cable-Knit Down Puffer Jacket

This jacket has the steep price of $1550, but it’s marked down a bit to $1085. It’s absolutely gorgeous, though, isn’t it?! It’s 70% merino wool with 30% cashmere, so you know it’s going to be super soft to the touch!

Moncler Coats

While you can probably find some great knit Moncler jackets on secondhand seller sites, this lilac ribbed-knit jacket is the only one I can find that’s currently for sale!

Update: I just found a handful of beige knitted Moncler coats here!

Sablyn Cashmere Cable Knit Puffer Jacket

If you’re looking for 100% cashmere, this coat by Sablyn is your winner.

Miu Miu Cable-Knit Padded Jacket

While this one has the highest price tag (at a whopping $4,400), its actually my least favorite in the splurge section. You can acheive a similar look for so much less with the other cable knit jackets on this list!

Affordable Cable Knit Jackets

It was harder than it should be to find similar cable knit coats at a more approachable price point! Brands, take note.

DH New York Cable Knit Sweater Coat

This jacket is just under $300 and is absolutely perfect, in my opinion! It’s definitely the best dupe for the Ralph Lauren jacket that I’ve found. It’s a chunky knit without being too bulky and the mushroom color is the perfect wear-with-everything neutral shade.

Blank NYC Sweater Puffer

I ended up buying this puffer while I was writing this post. Occupational hazard! It’s a bit different from the rest since it has a faux-leather trim down the front zipper, as well as at the cuffed sleeves. In my opinion, it has the perfect cable knitting pattern and it’s under $200, which felt like a major win. I’m not sure how I feel about the leather drawstring at the bottom, but we’ll see once it arrives. If I don’t love it in person, I’m going to order the jacket from DH New York above.

If Shopbop is sold out, I found it available on Amazon, too!

Central Park West Aubrey Cable Puffer Jacket

At $271, this light heather gray style is a definite winner! It has the Miu Miu vibes above for ~$4k less.

Unreal Fur Close-Knit Puffer Jacket

While this jacket is more of a faux fur style, it has a close-knitted construction that almost appears to be cable knit. At it’s regular retail price, it’s a bit of a splurge, but it’s currently on sale and an extra 20% will be taken off at checkout, too!

Maniere de Voir Jackets

While I’ve yet to order from this viral brand, they have a 2-in-1 cable knit puffer jacket that definitely fits the bill. Regularly $220, but currently 50% off for $110. They look THICK! Available in beige and black.

Blank NYC Rainbow Puffer

While this one is definitely a STATEMENT, the rainbow knit gives me Perfect Moment vibes for a fraction of the price.

Other Similar Styles

While it’s not a dead ringer of the gorgeous splurge-worthy cable knit styles above, this Bernardo plaid puffer jacket that looks like tweed is such a classy look. I have two coats by this brand and can confirm both the quality and the warmth are there even though they’re such affordable styles!

For more of a sweatshirt-style puffer, check out the splurge-worthy Mackage Tessy Puffer or the Cordova Aomori Jacket, or the budget-friendly Edikted Jersey Puffer Jacket for $110.

If you like the mixed media look, check out this cute layered style by Unreal Fur ($492) with cable-knit sleeves or this oversized puffy style by Azalea Wang ($110).

The Varley Wilkins Puffer is very cute and has a similar vibe, but it’s actually a boucle sherpa style.

This chocolate brown faux fur Stine Goya puffer is also cute!

If you love the ivory-hued puffers, but want a more stain-friendly option than the knit styles above, check out this one by Avec Les Filles.

Aran is an Irish brand that does ship to the United States. They don’t really have many coats, but they have wool cable knit sweaters a plenty. Lots of hand knit, chunky cable knit wool cardigans to choose from. All made from Irish wool!

Cable Knit Vests

If you live in a climate where vests make more sense, you’re in luck! Naked Cashmere makes one (Adeline Wool Cable Knit Puffer Vest), as well as Camila Coelho (Eissa Knit Puffer Vest).
