Nordstrom Anniversary: The Sale of the Summer

What to Buy in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably heard me mention that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is upon us! Maybe it’s just me, but it seemed to sneak up on us much quicker this year. By now, I’m assuming you know what the Anniversary Sale is, as I post about it yearly. But if you need a refresher — it’s all new for fall merchandise that starts out marked down before prices go up at the end of the sale. You can read this post for some FAQs and this post for what I usually recommend looking for!

If you’re a Nordstrom card holder, you can start shopping today! And if not, you can shop the sale next week on the 19th. I’m heading into the store on Friday to do my annual Dressing Room Diaries post, with a brutally honest review of fits, fabrics, feels, etc. (You can see my post from 2018 here, and from 2017 here!) So I hope to have that live by Saturday if you’re interested!

If you have a card and are shopping early, here’s what I’ve got my eyes on from my first look online…

Wear Now, Wear Later

Since it just turned summer in Chicago approximately two weeks ago, it’s hard for me to think about sweaters and fall clothing right now. Here are four items that you can wear as soon as they arrive, but continue to wear into fall and winter with the appropriate layers and accessory swaps.

Halogen Pleated Skirt  $78.90 (regularly $119)  |  A pleated midi skirt looks super cute styled with a tucked in or tied-up tee shirt and slip-on sandals, or you can add a lace cami, moto jacket, and booties for a fun date night look in the fall! (And for a non-pleated style, this midi slip skirt is great for $45! Another one here, too.)

Vince Camuto Block Heel Sandals  $64.90 (regularly $100)  |  I have a few pairs of Vince Camuto shoes and the quality and comfort is always there even though they are around $100! These ankle-strap sandals are a super versatile style, and they’re available in 21 different colors and textures. (I actually have the clear style in my cart!)

Gal Meets Glam Dress  $118.90 (regularly $178)  |  I tried this style of dress on last year when I was shopping for my Create + Cultivate outfit, and I absolutely loved it. You can wear it all summer long, but it would be cute with a moto jacket and booties, too. Or even suede over-the-knee boots!

BaubleBar Earring Set  $31.90 (regularly $48)  |  You guys know I have the ring version of this earring set and I wear it constantly. The rainbow jewelry trend is so fun right now!

I don’t want to recommend any more clothing until I’m in the store and able to see things in person! So stay tuned.

What I’ve Bought in Previous Years (and Still Have & Wear!)

Black NYC Moto Jackets  |  I have three different Blank NYC Moto Jackets and I get so much wear out of them! The (genuine!) suede quality is impressive for the price.

ASTR Lace Dress  |  I finally had to part ways with this dress, as I wore it into the ground. I had it in black (worn on the blog here & here), but it’s available in the sale in 8 different colors. Great for weddings, showers, etc. (And in a gorgeous navy ink color, too!)

Nordstrom PJs  |  If you need a cute and comfy pairs of PJs, I love these!

NARS After Glow Lip Balm  |  I wear this stuff daily! It’s the perfect *hint* of color when you don’t want to wear lipstick, but want a little something on your lips. (Is it just me or does anyone else feel like a corpse without a hint of color on their lips?!)  For a little bit more color, I always *love* these NARS lip pencils, the formula is amazing and this set of neutral shades is perfect.

Supergoop Setting Mist  |  All of my friends will tell you (both girls and guys), that I am OBSESSED WITH THIS SHIT. Best ever. So refreshing and you can spray on over your makeup! Great for touchups throughout the day.

Hanky Panky Low Rise Thongs  |  Only underwear I wear. I stock up during the sale! (Comes in prints, too!)

J.Crew Tees  |  I have a ‘Pardon My French’ tee I got last year in the sale and still wear all the time. I love this years Merci Beaucoop tee, as it’s kind of a hybrid between my french tee and my Cynthia Rowley black & white NYFC tee!

Zella No-Show Socks  |  These are athletic sock technically, but these are what I wear with all of my casual sneakers. They stay up so much better than ones meant for non-athletic wear!

Malin + Goetz Rum Body Wash  |  AHHH so so so happy to see this included!! This is the *BEST* scented body wash. I don’t really think it smells like rum at all… It’s subtly sexy, but still light and fresh enough for summer use. It’s so good, trust me!

If you’re in need of new activewear (raises hand 🙋🏼‍♀️), this sale is a good time to grab some separates on sale. Here’s what looks super cute…

Nike Sports Bra  $25.90 (regularly $35)  |  So excited to see these in the sale! I have three of these sports bras and they’re my favorite ever. Super flattering cut, medium support (totally fine for me since I’m so flat chested), and always comfortable.

Alo Cropped Tank  $35.90 (regularly $54)  |  So cute with high-waisted leggings! Show off them abs, gf.

Zella Sunray Leggings  $42.90 (regularly $65)  |  I tried these on last year and loved the fit!

Zella Hybrid Jacket  $98.90 (regularly $149)  |  While it’s not necessarily a *staple,* I’m looooving the look of this jacket to toss on before and after a workout class or to and from the gym. So chic. (This Alo jacket is also all sorts of amazing for the same thing!)

Investment Pieces

When I asked what you wanted to see on Instagram, more than a handful of people chimed in with investment pieces. Here are a few things that caught my eye…

Clare V Simple Tote  $310.90 (regularly $465)  |  I’ve always loved the shape of this bag, and it’s no secret that I’m Clare V obsessed.
