Holy Moly… The start of the Anniversary Sale is always the busiest week of my year from a work stand point! If you missed the memo, Nordstrom’s biggest sale of the year kicked off today for cardholders. Last year, I did a big dressing room recap of everything I tried on with my thoughts on sizing, fit, and styling and I received such a positive response that I knew I had to bring it back again this year. So here it goes… Here’s a look at my 5.5 hours at Nordstrom today, trying on my favorite items from almost every department in the store!
BP Yellow Gray White Stripe Sweater $31.90 (regularly $49) | I’m all about the colorful sweaters that we’ll be seeing for fall. I’m wearing the small in these photos… It runs very big, lots of wiggle room. I’m not usually a yellow person, but I love this color combination. The sweater is such a soft material, too! It’s so cute for chilly summer nights and early fall days.
Blank NYC The Madison Straight Leg Crop Jeans $58.90 (regularly $88) | I’m wearing a size 28 in the photos above. (See below for the size 27…) The 28 has a relaxed fit in the leg, but was a little big in the waist. Super high waisted, which I love. I absolutely LOVED these jeans, especially for the price! I loved the fit of the size 28 in store and how they’re more relaxed, but II was worried they would stretch out with wear. I tried on the 27 and while they were tighter in the leg to start, I think they will wear the best. They have a similar fit to my Levi’s that I love, but those always end up sagging in the but and crotch. There are amazing, especially for the price. I’m normally a size 27 in denim, so I’d say to get your regular size!
This is the size 27…
TOPSHOP Slouchy Suit Blazer $56.90 (regularly $85) | I’m wearing the US size 4 and it fits perfectly! If you’re in between sizes, size down. 10/10 Recommend! Looks great with jeans or with the matching trousers. I’m not always a red person, but I love this shade of red so much! Felt like a major boss lady.
TOPSHOP Slouch Suit Trousers $31.90 (regularly $48) | I’m wearing the US size 6. They fit well in the waist and thigh but were a tiny bit too short. I wish they were truly cropped or just a little bit longer! Had to pass because of the length. For reference, I’m only 5’5″, but have pretty long legs.
Blank NYC Meant to Be Moto Jacket $64.90 (regularly $98) | Talk about Meant to Be, I am OBSESSED with this jacket. I love how it has a removable snap-off hood for a sporty feel… Right up my alley lately. Good quality faux leather for the price and a great fit! I’m wearing a medium, which is the same size I got in the suede jackets last year! It hits at the perfect length, slightly cropped and not too long. Definitely looks more expensive then it is! Kind of bummed I bought this green leather jacket a few years ago in the sale, because I reallllyyy love this one with the hood. Considering getting it anyway?! It’s such an affordable price… Thoughts?!
BP Mock Neck Colorblock Sweater $31.90 (regularly $49) | Wearing a small in the red one, and a medium in the black and tan one below. (Definitely size down if you’re in between!) I ended up getting a small in the black/tan/cream. Lord knows I love a mock neck, and this has a great length — easy to front tuck or leave it out. I love the roomy sleeves!
BP Varsity Stripe Sweater $25.90 (regularly $39) | Wearing the size small. Super soft, ribbed material, good sleeve length, mauvey grey color. I passed on it, but it’s a cute basic!
TOPSHOP Kimono Wrap Blouse $39.00 (regularly $60) | I’m wearing a US 4. True wrap blouse, not faux. I feel like it fits me weird through the shoulders and chest so I passed on it. This blouse comes in white, too! The white one is fairly see-through so you would have to wear nude bra.
BP High Waist Cutoff Skinny Jeans $42.90 (regularly $65) | I’m wearing a size 27, my normal size. Great raw hem with lots of stretch. I have no idea about their longevity (they may stretch throughout the day), but a great price point for raw-hem skinnies if you don’t already have a pair. Good dark wash with not too much fading or whisking!
BP Balloon Sleeve Sweater $31.90 (regularly $49) | I’m wearing a small and love the fit of this mock neck, slightly cropped sweater. There is some size variation, though! I actually like the way the white one fit better, even though it was the same size as this watermelon shade. I will say, the white sweater looks a little bit cheap in person, but I love this bright hue. You can size down if you want a closer fit, it’s super roomy.
Chloe and Katie Wrap Floral Top $29.90 (regularly $45) | I’m wearing a medium and it fits well through the shoulders. If you have broad shoulders like I do, I would size up. I like the colors and print, but I feel like it doesn’t do much for my mid section so I passed. Half wrap, not a true wrap (which I kind of prefer). Also comes in super cute black and white stripe pattern!
WAYF Plunging Knot Front Top $45.90 (regularly $69) | Wearing a small, love the print and blush pink color with deep teal details. It’s pretty sheer in the back, but I didn’t feel it was in the front with the pleating. Very flattering fit! Hits the waist with a slight peplum. I didn’t buy it because of the sheerness in the back (I hate wearing camis), but if you wear a cami or bralette, it would look perfect! Great for workwear.
SP Black Stretch Denim Miniskirt $35.90 (regularly $55) | I’ve been looking for a good denim mini skirt for what feels like ages. This has a good high waisted fit! Still decent mid thigh length and not too short. It’s a super stretchy material. I love it with sweaters for fall or even now with a bodysuit or blouse. Wear with a slip on loafer or sneaker now or with OTK books in the fall. They didn’t have my size, so I tried on a 29 for the photo. I would say a 28 would be perfect. I’m normally a 27, so size up! Slip on loafer or sneaker! In fall, wear with OTK boots. The 28 was sold out in store so I’m going to order it online!
ASTR Belted Jumpsuit $58.90 (regularly $89) | Size Medium. Great cropped length at ankle so you could do sandals or heels! Dress it up or down. You’re either a jumpsuit person or you’re not, and I just feel like I’m not. 😂The waist hits in a good spot. Not quite scuba material but similar. I don’t know if it was just me, but the fit of the top was super weird on my body type. I couldn’t have sized down, but I could totally see my bra in the arm holes.
Leith Long Languid Dress $56.90 (regularly $85.00) | Wearing a size small. It’s a true wrap dress. It’s fully lined and not see-through at all, which is AMAZE. It’s perfect for brunches, luncheons, baby showers, etc. Can definitely dress it up for date night! Super flirty and feminine, absolutely loved this one. Highly considering it for my upcoming work trip to Italy!
Socialite Tie-Waist T-Shirt $31.90 (regularly $49.00) Much like jumpsuits, I fell like you’re either a t-shirt dress kinda girl or you’re not. I never like them on me (looks great from the front, but I look giant from the side), but I see them on other people (this one included) and it looks great. If you’re a t-shirt dress girl, I think you’d probably love this one. I’m wearing a small!
BP Distressed Longline Denim Jacket $56.90 (regularly $85) | How fun is this? I’m wearing a small, but it still has an oversize boyfriend fit. It’s a great cropped sleeve length! Perfect amount of distressing. Wear with white jeans or even over a dress to make it a bit more casual.
TOPSHOP Stripe Duster Jacket $69.90 (regularly $110) | I’m wearing a US 6. Didn’t love the pants, but LOVE the duster. I think it’s fun over a black dress or over a skirt and tee. (I would pair it with a black tee underneath but only had a white one with me.) Super fun cut and silky material. Would also be cute with black jeans and tee in the fall. Definitely not for everyone, but it’s a cool statement piece if you’re looking for one! The drawstrings can be tied or used to cinch it more open.
Adidas Active Icons Cropped Hoodie $47.90 (regularly $65) | I knew I’d love this from the moment I saw it. It’s SO CUTE! LOVE the oversized, cropped fit. Perfect for to-and-from workout classes.
Zella Sun Salutation High Waist Leggings $42.90 (regularly $65) | I’m wearing a medium. It’s a high waisted belly-button height, could go smaller in the waist but wouldn’t want the mesh to stretch out, great 7/8ths right above ankle length which I always prefer! Love the breathable mesh details.
Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket $148.90 (regularly $199) | OBSESSED with the pesto green color. I already have this in black, but highly considering this green. It’s so good, even better in person! (And still pretty neutral.) Lightweight and slim fit.
Zella So Stunning Sports Bra $31.90 (regularly $49) | Swiss dot detailing on the mesh, purple grey color. Longer length than normal sports bra for added coverage, which is nice. Perfect to wear with high waisted leggings so you’re not showing that much skin. I’m wearing small. Has built in removable cups, which is nice for us flat-chested ladies.
Zella Live in High Waist Leggings $35.90 (regularly $54) | Wearing a medium but I definitely would need the small. I prefer an ankle length pant, but if you like the full length then you’d love these!
Make + Model Too Cool Pullover $22.90 (regularly $35) + Make + Model Good Vibes Jogger Pants $29.90 (regularly $45) | Wearing a small in both, SUPER SOFT. Fun star print! I will note: underneath the embroidery you can feel the threads, if that makes sense. It’s not too scratchy, but it’s noticeable enough. If I sized up, maybe I wouldn’t feel it. (Other colorways don’t have the embroidery!)
Rails Short Pajamas $98.90 (regularly $148) | OBSESSED with this Rails set in the strawberry pattern! TOO CUTE. The super soft material that Rails is known for. Keeps you cool! (I hate being hot when I sleep!) Small fits perfectly. (Typically I hate when sets are one size because I tend to be different sizes on top and bottom, but this set is golden.)
Rails Short Pajamas $98.90 (regularly $148) | Super cute classic Rails plaid print. This set is even softer than the strawberry set! Even though it’s flannel, it’s still so soft, lightweight, and surprisingly cool!
1901 Stripe Mini Shirtdress $82.90 (regularly $125) | Size 4 fits perfectly. SO cute. Has pockets! Great work dress but can easily be worn for weekend festivities as well. Fun midi length that hits at a good spot! Elongates you rather than making you look stumpy, like some midis have the tendency to do. LOVE! This one came home with me today, couldn’t wait to order it online.
Halogen Lace Overlay Sleeveless Shift Dress $85.90 (regularly $129) | This one also came home with me today! Wearing a small. I love how the ribbon collar is very Gucci-esque. Rose lace detail, which I obviously love! When I saw this dress I immediately thought “This would be perfect with sneakers!” But it also would look great with sandals or heels. Great length, above the knee, not too short. For being A-line /shifty, it’s very flattering. The spot where it hits on the shoulder is perf, too!
Rag and Bone Raw Hem Ankle Skinny Jeans $129 (regularly $195) | I’m wearing a size 27. (So get your regular denim size!) These are mid rise and a little lower rise than I typically like my denim. SUPER stretchy. Just a little too low rise for my taste, otherwise I’d snag these! FYI: I tried on the 28, too, since these are one of their slimmest fits! I think I’d stick with the 27 (my regular size) just because I wouldn’t want them to get stretched out.
J.Crew Funnel Neck Stripe Shirt $44.90 (regularly $68) | I’m wearing a size 4. This structured, striped top is the perfect work top. Shorter in front so you don’t have to tuck it in, but longer in back so it covers your bum! Wide boat neck is a little bit different, but cool! I don’t feel like I have a specific need for this top since I’m not in an office, but I like it.
Rebecca Minkoff Superwoman Delaney Tee $37.90 (regularly $58) | I’m wearing a small. A cute graphic tee, you can never have too many of those. I liked it best tucked into high waisted jeans — dresses it up a bit!
J. Brand Natasha Photoready High Waist Skinny Jean $138.90 (regularly $208) | I’m wearing a size 27. These fit TTS. SUPER high waisted! (Like, more than usual. Over my belly button!) Great for crop tops or tucking in a tee. Fun button detail, super retro. Great to show off your figure!
Yet another pair of black jeans…. 😂
Paige Black Jeans $145.90 (regularly $219) | I’m wearing a size 27. Cropped raw hem with a kick flare. Perfect to pair with taller sock booties to show off your shoes!
Madewell 10-Inch High Waist Skinny Jeans $84.90 (reg $128) | I’m wearing the size 27 in Black Frost. Super high rise (above belly button). Similar to the J Brand button jeans, but a little more wearable for everyday since it doesn’t have the button details!
Paige Hoxton High Waist Slim Raw Hem Jeans $143.90 (reg $215) | I’m wearing the 27. LOVE LOVE LOVE THESE! They fit like a glove. My favorite jeans that I tried on today. Ordered them online immediately. Great wash! Love the raw hem, perfect high rise. I’ve been searching for the perfect straight jean and these are them. 100%.
JCrew Tres Chic Tee $29.90 (regularly $45) | Size small. Great basic tee with a cute message!
Halogen Ruffle Neck Sweater $49.90 (regularly $79) | Such a cute salmon pink color! Love the ruffled neck and the balloon sleeves. Super soft! I’m wearing a small, runs a bit oversized. (Soft + oversized is the name of the sweater game this year.) One of my favorite sweater picks this year!
Gibson Surplice Drape Front Blouse $45.90 (regularly $68) | Striped faux wrap blouse with a slightly high-low hem. I love how bold the stripes are for something different! Wear it now with white jeans and transition it to fall with regular jeans or skinny trousers. Great blouse for work! (I’m wearing a small.)
Cece Floral Print Ruffle Trim Shirt $65.90 (regularly $99) | When I picked this up off the rack, I thought it was totally sheer. The body is actually lined and just the sleeves are sheer so it’s perfect! Great summer work shirt, as it’s easy to layer with jackets! I’m wearing a small.
Halogen Boiled Wool Blend Moto Jacket $119.90 (regularly $179) | I’m wearing a XS, but it’s still massive! Definitely size down and know that it will still be an oversized, boxy fit. Hits at a great spot on the hip so it’s actually fairly slimming for how boxy it is.
BCBGeneration Faux Fur Jacket $129.90 (regularly $200) | I’m wearing a small. Absolutely love the asymmetrical patchwork and the 3/4 sleeves. I think the mix of faux fur and teddy fabric is fun. Really cute for fall when you need some warmth, but not a super heavy coat. Looks more expensive than it is!
Avec Les Filles Faux Shearling Biker Jacket $129.90 (regularly $199) | LOVE THIS! I’m wearing a small. I love how it’s oversized and kind of edgy. Brings out more the downtown NYC side of my style! Looks a lot more high end than it is, too.
1901 Bow Front Crop Tweed Jacket $89.90 (reg $139) | So great for work. Has a little peplum and ruffle detail. I like how it’s kind of cutesy with the bows, but not too young. I’m wearing a size 4.
Halogen Tie Sleeve Trench Coat $124.90 (reg $189) | I almost didn’t try this on, but it’s so much better on than it is on the hanger! I’m wearing a small. Love how lightweight it is, kind of reminds me of Club Monaco. Super cute with jeans and a tee how I’m wearing it here, pair with a little leopard loafer or a Gucci slide. Also great for the office and wearing over work trousers or a dress! It really elevates the outfit and it’s great for travel, too! (Just toss it over your tee and leggings, even with sneakers.)
Barbour Jacket | Soooo unfortunately I can’t find this one online. But if you find it in store, this is a US size 6. I can get away with a US 4 in some oversized Barbour jackets, but not this one. I LOVE THE CUT OF THIS! It’s more feminine than most Barbour jackets… The hem and how it dips up on the sides and down in the front/back is super cute, even better than the photos. The slate blue is so pretty… Definitely a neutral with just a little flair. You can wear it with any color! it has a longer sleeve length that I love, and is super warm for being so lightweight. Wish I would have written down the style number, but I just assumed I could find it online. Sorry!
1901 Balloon Sleeve Bow Neck Blouse $49.90 (reg $79) | Talk about a balloon sleeve… I literally felt like I was going to take flight. It’s super cute, but just not that wearable for everyday.
Frame Le High Split Hem Skinny Jeans $153.90 (reg $230) | Didn’t love these. They have little zipper slits up the front of the shin. They run TTS, Im wearing a 27. I’m wondering if they’d be cute worn a bit more unzipped with a cool pair of booties…
Halogen Raw Edge Tweed Jacket $98.90 (reg $149) | I could only find a Medium in this, but it ended up fitting perfectly! (I have broad shoulders, so if you do, too — size up!) I love the colorful fringe and the slightly cropped fit. Great for work!
Current Elliott The Stiletto High Waist Skinny Jeans $145.90 (reg $218) | I don’t know what it is, but I always hate the way my thighs look in Current Elliott denim. If you know C/E fits you well, these would be cute. I love the frayed hem and the medium wash, which can be hard to find. I’m wearing a 27.
Rag & Bone Side Stripe Skinny Jeans $167.90 (reg $250) | I would have never picked these out myself, but the store associate brought them to me and I figured I’d try them on. The stripe definitely makes them flattering! I think the stripe is cool with the colorful jacket, too. They are higher-waisted than most of my other Rag & Bone jeans, which is nice. I passed on these, as I wasn’t sure how often I would wear them. But if you need a statement pair of jeans, check them out!
Madewell Oversize Denim Jacket Small $84.90 (reg $128) | Obsessed with this! How does it compare to the one in BP? Well, this one has no distressing. It’s a long-line denim jacket, but the one in BP is SUPER long. I think these oversized jackets are so perfect! Really cute with white jeans or with colored denim that’s making it’s way back. The sleeves are shorter, which actually makes rolling them easier. This is a great jacket to wear with lighter colored jeans because it covers your bum, which is always a nice little security blanket. (Also, you know I’ve been around my niece and nephew too long when I’ve used the word “bum” twice in this post. The jacket covers your ass, people. It covers your ASS.)
Paige Verdugo Ankle Skinny Jeans $132.90 (reg $199) | Super fun olive green color that’s great for fall. Ankle length, slightly cropped. I’m wearing a size 27!
Sorry, guys.. This one is not an Anniversary Sale find. The store associate brought these to me after I decided no on all of the other black denim I tried. (Little did he know I was doing a blog guide and must have thought I reallllyyyy needed a pair of black jeans. I really liked the Madewell pair and the J.Brand pair, but I just don’t need any more pairs of black jeans right now.) Good American Black Jeans $149 | I’m wearing a size 26, so definitely size down. They suck you in and really do make you feel thin!
Anddddd one more non-anniversary find. I spotted this cream lace maxi dress ($148) across the store and had to have it. I knew it was going to be amazing before I even put it on. IT’S GORGEOUS, even more so in person. I’m wearing a size 6. I had extra room and could have potentially gone down to a 4, but I didn’t try. I love how the lining stops just above the knee and the dress is sheer below that!
Charles Henry Floral Sleeveless Wrap Dress $71.90 (reg $108) | The deep V on this dress is super flattering. Actually, the whole silhouette is flattering. It’s a true wrap dress with such pretty colors. It’s great to wear to weddings and beyond! Great to have in your closet for when something pops up. I’m wearing a small.
Chelsea 28 Embroidered Bodice A-line Dress $85.90 (reg $129) | I always hate baby doll dresses on me… I love how swingy this dress is, and really do think it’s super cute, but it’s just not the most flattering style on me. (I need to be cinched in at the waist, which is my smallest point. Whereas this style tends to be biggest at the natural waist.) I feel like the arm ruffles hit my shoulder/arm in the worst spot, too, and just make me look bigger than I am. Love the color and the length, but the dress just wasn’t working for my body.
Eliza J Sleeveless Crepe Fit and Flare Dress $98.90 (reg $148) | I’m wearing my normal size 6 in Eliza J, but I would have gone down to a 4 if I was buying it. It’s great for the office, but also one of those dresses that transitions to weddings and showers well, too. Love the dusty blush color.
J.Crew Ruffle Trim Dress $131.90 (reg $198) | I’m wearing a size 4 and it fits like a glove. Great work dress! I feel like it’s a bit expensive for the material though… Feels more like a J.Crew Factory dress than a J.Crew dress. (Also: LOL at my face… I had been in the store for almost 5 hours at this point… without lunch… )
Eliza J Faux-Wrap Midi Dress $104.90 (reg $158) | I’m wearing a size 6. I’m not normally a yellow person, but this shade of yellow feels softer. I love the pretty colors in the floral pattern, too. Great for work, but also great for weekend events and festivities! The chest is actually a faux wrap (which I prefer) so you don’t have to worry about a bra slip.
If you want a peak at shoes, beauty, and accessories, check out this post!
Wow, the pieces you show here are all amazing and really affordable! Thanks for sharing!

I LOVE these posts. I know they take you a ton of time, but both last year’s and this year’s were incredibly helpful and beyond appreciated.
The hooded jacket- in love!! I know you said you tried on a medium- is that true to your size? Thanks for the help!
That Charles Henry floral dress is beautiful!! I am impressed with your endurance lol. 5.5 hours in a fitting room…impressive! I saw you were going to Italy soon for something. Can’t wait to read about that trip! Italy is my favorite!

I love your post! Really liked seeing the pieces on someone and hearing your thoughts!
Question: what wash are the Paige jeans in? I loved them on you but when I clicked on the link the wash looks much lighter in the pic on the site. Wasn’t sure if they sold out of your wash or it was just different lighting? Sorry to bother you but i just LOVE the wash on the ones in your pic!
Confusing, right? That’s why it’s always so helpful to see things in person. There was only one wash in these jeans, Birdie! (The pair I’m wearing is the same as what’s listed online, but the color is obviously a lot better in person!)
Thank you so much! SO helpful- I never would even looked at those jeans in the wash in the pic but I love them on you!
I’m new to your blog but I love it- this post was amazing (wish I saw it before some of the great stuff sold out, now I’m stocking all of the striped sweaters, haha!)
Thanks for this amazing post! I’m just sorry I didn’t get a chance to see it before I placed my own huge order. I can already see the WAYF wrap top will probably be getting returned from my order – too see through for me 🙁 It’s otherwise so pretty too!
I absolutely loved all of your picks! Thanks for showcasing a lot of unique pieces that I haven’t seen before!
xoxo,

To say this was an extensive roundup would be an understatement! Definitely think you picked out the best items from the sale and made my shopping much, much easier. Thank you!!
So glad to hear that! Thank you!
