I try to pack as much into my Saturdays as possible so Sundays can be a bit more relaxed. Even if I’m not able to keep my schedule completely clear, I’ll try to keep my commitments to a few hours in the afternoon. Is there anything better than sleeping in, lounging around in your PJs, reading a real newspaper, or eating breakfast in bed? Nope, definitely not.
During the week, I go from shooting outfit photos before work, to the office, to attending events after work. It’s fun, sure, but it can be pretty exhausting after a while. So by the time the weekend rolls around, I want nothing more than to relax at home. I’ve been majorly laying low this month. (On the weekends, at least.) I kind of feel like I’ve turned into a bit of a homebody! To be honest, I couldn’t even tell you the last time I went out to a bar in New York on the weekend. Blame all of my travels in October (#JetSetJess), blame a hectic year, blame a crazy work/blog schedule, or maybe just blame it on getting older. Whatever it is, I’ve really been appreciating down time at home. Comfy clothes, festive candles, and peace and quiet. Can’t beat it!

I definitely fill my Saturdays with everything that I have to do over the weekend if I can so that I can enjoy my Sundays too. Church in the morning, brunch with my boyfriend and friends, and then nothing but relaxing or spending time with one of our families. It’s the perfect way to reenergize before starting the work week up again!

Wonderful pictures! I completely understand you. A few years back a weekend without going out was wasted weekend, now I enjoy staying in a lot more. Just as you said – pj’s, newspapers, breakfast in bed. Love it!
PS I adore the brick wall, wish I could persuade my boyfriend to make a one in our place!

Love you room, Jessica! I really like white and gray, I think the combo is so chic, and I think the combination of those colors against the brick wall is perfect! And if you think you are too old and you aren’t going out to bars on the weekends, then I am *really* old! Lol. I spent this weekend laying low myself and I much prefer that to being hungover. 🙂

Love the gold flatware! I have an antique gold and white tea set and I never have any cutlery to use with it for weekend brunches. This will be perfect!

Your new apartment is look GOOD!! Glad you’re taking it easy… busy bars on weekends are (usually) overrated!
Jessica, first off I love love love your blog! I’m a recent transfer to NYC and same age so I love getting the inside scoop on fashion, restaurants, etc. in the city. I have a question about your hair though, because it looks so fabulous in all of your posts. One thing I’ve noticed here is how the dry winter months really damage my blonde hair. What products do you use to maintain the moisture in your hair or to style it? Again, I love your blog, thanks!! Xoxo
Aw so glad to have you following along! I hope you love New York so far.
I splurge on good shampoo and conditioner because I really think that makes a difference. (I use Arrojo Color Save Shampoo & Conditioner.) I also always spray in “It’s a 10” after I get out of the shower before blowdrying. And I try to do some sort of 5-10 minute hair mask in the shower every 2 weeks!
I also try to wash my hair as infrequently as possible and I’ve found that this has made my hair more healthy. I swear by dry shampoo powder, however, this can dry out your hair a little bit. A dry conditioner is good to use on days when you’ve been using dry shampoo! (I use Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo Powder and Dry Conditioner.) Hope this helps. 🙂
Wow! You’re apartment is amazing!
