My U Beauty Review

Since I’ve been using these products daily for the last four months, I wanted to share my U Beauty review! I got the U Beauty Resurfacing Compound, Super Hydrator, and a few of the Lip Plasmas back in November. Here’s my honest review…

A Brief History of U Beauty

U Beauty launched in the fall of 2019 with one product, their Resurfacing Compound. A year later, they released their second product, the Super Hydrator, and the rest is history.

I had seen the brand mentioned over the last few years, but I watched an online interview with the founder, Tina Craig, in October and was so intrigued by the entire brand that I had to try it for myself!

When Tina started the brand, she wasn’t thinking of a full skincare line. She began testing products in 2017 with one goal in mind: to make the best product she couldn’t find on the market. That was the sole focus until U Beauty officially launched two years later.

I’m paraphrasing from the interview, but Tina said she was so sick of doing a 13-step skincare routine, only doing certain acids on M/W/F and letting her skin rest on other days, only doing retinol on Sunday nights, etc.

Life was already complicated and busy, so she just wanted to slap one product on her face and go to bed! Sounds familiar, right?? 🫠

The Science Behind U Beauty

While I’m no scientist and can’t claim to understand all the science behind U Beauty’s high-performance approach to skincare, U Beauty’s main differentiator is their Siren Capsule Technology

One of my favorite bits from the interview with Tina was something along the lines of, “I knew that the technology in skincare could be better than what it was. If we put a man on the moon in 1969, there had to be a better way than still using the same technology from the 1950s in the skincare industry.”

You can learn all about the Siren Capsule Technology on this page, but I’ll try to break it down for those who want the cliff notes. It’s not until each Siren capsule enters into your skin and comes in contact with free radicals that it’s released. This allows the active ingredients to specifically target the areas where it’s needed!

My Honest U Beauty Review

U Beauty Resurfacing Compound

On the Product Page

Brighten, resurface, tighten, renew, and equalize in a single step. Replacing up to eight products, it visibly improves texture, tone, pore size, congestion, and fine lines in as few as three days.

Chicago influencer holding U Beauty Resurfacing Compound wearing silver jeans.

My Review

They aren’t lying! I legitimately noticed a difference in my skin within a few days. My skin looked brighter, clearer, and much more even within a week.

I have never experienced any stinging or irritation from the Resurfacing Compound! I used to be in the camp where I actually appreciated when my skin felt a burning or tingling sensation because that’s how I knew the products I was paying for were actually working. But as someone with fairly sensitive skin, I finally realized that was causing me so much redness.

The Resurfacing Compound is the only serum you need, which is kind of a mind f*ck for me. I’ve collected all sorts of serums and potions over the years and genuinely enjoy trying new things and testing them out.

However, this product contains Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Retinol, and Multi-Hydroxy Acids like Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) and BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids). Antioxidants, too. It has all of the key ingredients we need — all in one bottle! 🤯

If you’re comparing it to the Skinceuticals CE Ferulic Serum, it’s quite nice how there’s no terrible smell! It’s a similar color, but the Resurfacing Compound is a bit more viscous and slides on better.

The craziest part to me is that there isn’t any stinging, tingling, or burning — especially when you’re mixing all of those actives together. It goes against the skincare rule we all know and practice to “only use one active ingredient at a time.” Again, such a mind f*ck, but I assume it’s because of the patent-pending Siren Capsule Technology.

U Beauty Super Hydrator

On the Product Page

A next-level moisturizer that actively hydrates for up to 48 hours, it transports five unique sizes of hyaluronic acid molecules deeply into the skin—for sustained intense, multi-level hydration and increased bounce, creating a protective 3D shield to lock in moisture all day long, revealing primed, nourished, and hydrated skin.

My Review

As someone with dry skin, it’s mind-blowing to me that this hydrator leaves my skin both instantly hydrated, as well as hydrated for hours to come. It’s not oily, and it’s definitely not sticky. In my opinion, it’s the perfect consistency and makes my skin look glowy and dewy!

This product is your Hyaluronic Serum and Moisturizer all wrapped into one. (Again, with the replacing of multiple products.)

If you’re into the science, long-chain Hyaluronic Acid molecules have typically been too big to penetrate and absorb deep into our skin. For this reason, the Super Hydrator has dehydrated HA molecules that have been shrunk and then encapsulated.

The website says the 15ml bottle will last you ~two weeks, but my original 15ml bottle lasted me close to a month as I was pretty mindful of my application and how much product I was using. Next, I opted for the 50ml bottles, which say they should last ~six weeks, but they’ve lasted me at least two months so far!

U Beauty DUO

U Beauty Resurfacing Compound, Super Hydrator, and Lip Plasma set.

These two have been designed to be partners in crime! The Super Hydrator locks in all of the goodness of the Resurfacing Compound. Within a week, my skin looked brighter, clearer, and more dewy!

Much like you always want to follow a Vitamin C serum with a Hyaluronic Acid, the Super Hydrator is the perfect complement to the Resurfacing Compound.

You can try the duo for $118 with this set, regularly $156.

I’ve grown to love how these products have simplified my skincare routine! The brand claims that these two products together replace upwards of TEN or ELEVEN different products.

It makes travel a breeze, too, as you really only need these two products. (LOL – you can read more about my recent travel snafu here.)

I was talking with a girlfriend on my trip last weekend about how I feel like I’ve ‘been slacking’ on my skincare routine lately, but I guess I really haven’t?? I’ve just grown so accustomed to doing a multi-step routine and switching off days with different products that it just feels so easy now.

I made one of my best friends buy the DUO set a few months ago and she’s now obsessed, too! She also noticed a difference in her skin in a matter of days. Although we have similar skin types, it’s said to work for everyone!

Plasma Lip Compound

On the Product Page

A transformative treatment that plumps and contours the lips with a 3D pillow-effect for natural-looking enhancement with immediate and sustained results. After a single application, expect instant locked-in hydration and visible amplification of lip color, softness, and smoothness.

My Review

I feel like I’ve been searching for this lip treatment for years. I’m obsessed with it! It’s everything I wished Laneige was. The Tatcha lip treatment was a favorite at one point, but the Lip Plasma is even better. I usually just prefer Aquaphor on my lips, but this is SO good. I kind of hate how much I love it, but I now have it in multiple colors!

The only con is that I don’t love the taste.

While it is expensive, I got the original clear one in November and have probably applied once or twice every single day in the winter. A little goes a long way, plus your lips literally get better over time, where you almost don’t need to apply as often as when you first start using it?? It’s honestly great.

I’m also *obsessed* with the metal tip! It feels so luxe.

If you’re interested in all three of the products I tried and loved, check out the exact set I got: The Duo Set + Lip Plasma for $168. It’s a $244 value!

U Beauty Before and After

I got such great feedback from this concealer review with the before & afters that I wanted to be sure to *show* you the difference in my skin. I went back through shipping notifications and found the day that I got my U Beauty order: November 9th. From there, I went back through photos on my phone and found a makeup-less selfie from my dermatologist a few days prior: November 6th. Then, I found two different makeup-less photos (or screengrabs from videos) later in the month: November 16th and November 22nd.

The difference of ~two weeks is absolutely INSANE, isn’t it??

The One Thing I Don’t Love About U Beauty

Honestly, I think the packaging is a bit bulky and seemingly not very eco-friendly. I’d love to see some sort of refillable bottle, especially since they offer subscriptions.

I now have four tubes of the Plasma Lip Compound… Whoops! I started with the Universal/Clear, and then got Rose, Lady, and Shanghai.

U Beauty Products I Want to Try

U Beauty has now launched 13 unique products in the last 4.5 years! If budget was no constraint, I’d have already ordered every single product. But, you know, the whole wedding thing.

U Beauty Body Products

With it being my wedding year, I’ve been extra intrigued by body skincare products as of late.

Resurfacing Body Compound

Just like the all-in-one compound for your face, this Resurfacing Body Compound contains it all: Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Mandelic Acid, Shea Butter, Phytic Acid, Bioferments, Biomimetic Peeling Peptide, Flower Acid, and Papain.

A breakthrough body exfoliant for smooth skin free of visible irregularities. Engineered to improve the skin’s natural desquamation process, it optimizes normal skin turnover and helps refine skin texture, visibly reducing wrinkle depth and uniforming the skin.

Super Body Hydrator

Body moisturizer, radically reinvented: Featuring a novel formulation of skin-fortifying ingredients, this luxe yet lightweight emulsion features fast absorption and groundbreaking body benefits. Skin experiences visible renewal, appearing smoother, brighter, and more youthful, with a long-lasting radiant glow.

I’m such a stickler for high-performing body lotion and their Super Body Hydrator sounds like everything I’ve ever wanted! It contains Vitamin B3, B-Glucan, Hydrolyzed Walnut Extract, Matrikine Peptide, Purified Oat Extract, Shea Butter, Avocado Oil, Grapeseed Oil, and Organic Argan Oil.

I was surprised not to see Hyaluronic Acid on this list like the Super Hydrator for your face, but I’m assuming the oils are more heavily hydrating for the body.

Sculpt Arm Compound

A revolutionary concentrate that visibly tightens, tones, and sculpts skin on the arms, neck, and chest for gravity-defying results. Packed with a strategic blend of marine extracts, probiotics, and select ferments, dual SIREN Capsules send nutrients to the skin to boost hydration, skin vitality and energize its appearance, while helping to neutralize free radicals and minimize associated visible deficiencies, like stagnant fluid, sagging skin, and crepiness.

The customer reviews on the Sculpt Arm Compound are kind of confusing, because it seems like most of them are actually for the Body Hydrator? Not sure what’s going on there. I’m still eager to try it, though, as my arms are definitely my #1 body insecurity.

Super Tinted Hydrator

A futuristic formula that’s one part next-gen moisturizer, one part intuitive skin tint—for boosted luminosity, minus the weight of makeup. Each flexible, self-adjusting shade blends like a second skin, nourishing with deep, sustained hydration and skin-fortifying ingredients for up to 48 hours. Powered by SIREN Capsule Technology to precisely deliver hydration, it visibly improves texture, leaving skin with a 3D moisture shield and dewy, sheer finish.

If you have dry skin like I do, rarely ever does a “tinted moisturizer” take the place of your moisturizer. I always have to do my regular skincare routine, and then add a BB/CC cream or foundation over it.

Knowing what I know about the Super Hydrator, I feel like the Super TINTED Hydrator is *the ultimate* tinted moisturizer that would give me some coverage AND hydration all in one.

The interview I watched was actually in celebration of the launch of the Super Tinted Hydrator, where Tina said it’s *not* a color cosmetic product. It’s skincare with benefits! It’s the exact same technology as the Super Hydrator that gives you that *glow,* just with tints added to it. The color actually fuses into your skin, whereas makeup sits on top.

Each color apparently complements up to three different skin shades. The product itself is available in 11 different hues!

Multimodal Defender Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30

Not only does the Multimodal contain SPF to prevent future sun damage, but it also has a brightening ester that’s encapsulated in a Siren capsule that is said to also correct past sun damage.

If you’re wondering about the order of operations, you would apply this FIRST and then your Super Hydrator. The whole line is engineered to be able to work together!

The Super Intensive Face Oil

The Super Intensive Face Oil is the newest product for U Beauty and I cannot wait to get my hands on it! I’m very eager to see how it differs from the Super Hydrator lotion. Personally, I love using facial oil when I’m using my gua sha stone!

A breakthrough oil-hydrator hybrid built to prevent dry, dehydrated skin. Intuitively mimicking the skin’s natural composition, it resupplies its lipid layer and leverages hyaluronic acids to prevent moisture loss, while targeting signs of accelerated aging caused by stagnant cells. Skin receives dramatic multi-layer hydration, as signs of stress, age, and the visible effects of oxidative damage are treated.

Return Eye Concentrate

As an eye cream connoisseur, their Return Eye Concentrate is high on my list to try next!

A complete contouring treatment that targets the visible effects of oxidative stress and free radical imbalance against the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circles for unprecedented eye defense with visible sustained renewal. Designed to visibly lift, smooth, plump, and brighten, the result is a flawless photoluminescent finish with restored moisture and a soft-focus glow.

Mantle Skin Conditioning Wash

I’m usually of the camp that it’s not necessary to splurge on face wash, as you’re rinsing it off right away. It seems like their Mantle Skin Conditioning Wash has a ton of technology in it (it’s a double cleanse all-in-one, naturally), but I can’t see myself spending $78 on it. I’d rather put that money towards the Duo!

When it comes to beauty products worth the hype, I think U Beauty is definitely worth it! U Beauty is a luxury skincare brand so the prices reflect that, but the efficacy is most certainly there in the products I’ve tried.
