I picked up this rainbow striped dress before my trip to Santa Barbara and I couldn’t be happier with it! (More on my trip coming soon!) I got so many compliments when I wore it in California… The colors are even prettier in person. When I first spotted it on the rack, I really liked it and eyed it for a little bit, but didn’t grab it since it was out of my usual color wheelhouse. (Have you ever seen me in yellow? Nope. And very rarely in a red, minty green, or pale blue.) But I kept getting a glimpse out of the corner of my eye and liked it more and more each time.
When I finally tried it on, I fell in love with the fun silhouette! It started pouring down rain when we were shooting this look (hence the duck and cover running photo below!) and we weren’t able to get a photo from the side, but I love how it looks like you’re wearing a slip dress underneath from the side, but it’s all built in. It’s super forgiving with an elastic waist, too! A little note on sizing, though: I’d definitely size down. I’m wearing a 4 and could probably even go with a 2!
The vibrant colors make styling a cinch, too! I kept it casual for weekend wear with a straw hat and simple black accessories, but you could definitely pair with a pop of color in your shoes or bag.
I have this mini straw bag in the cream color from last year (it’s been on the blog countless times!), but I finally let myself buy the black version, too! You don’t typically see black straw bags, and I love how it dresses up your usual straw totes, but is much more relaxed than the rest of our go-to black leather bags. I’ve used it so many times already and I know it will be on repeat the rest of the summer! I have the shoulder strap tucked in (it’s fully removable) so it’s a lot more versatile than it might appear.
