As soon as I got this Sail to Sable dress in the mail, I knew it was the perfect blue baby shower dress to celebrate a close friend’s little one last weekend!
I generally love dressing for a theme, as it gives you a little bit more direction when you’re getting dressed. Since my friends already knew the gender of their little boy arriving in a few weeks, I opted to wear a baby blue dress to their party. I wasn’t the only one, either! Lots of women had on different blue-based prints and shades of blues and greens, which all coordinated together so well. Great for photos! (I love those little things so much, ha.)

But back to this fun, floral blue baby shower dress… Jenn Lake just launched her 12th capsule collection with preppy, East-coast-based, brand Sail to Sable. It’s honestly maybe her best one yet!
My favorite piece in the collection is this ric-rac mini dress! I mean, could it be cuter?! The perfect little number to wear to all of Chicago’s street fests this summer.
But seeing as we’ve barely dipped our toes into Spring here in Chicago, I, unfortunately, knew I would get much more wear out of a long-sleeved, ankle-length blue baby shower dress. One of those times where you have to choose comfort and practicality over style!
I opted for the Anne dress in a gorgeous hydrangea blue floral print. If it’s warmer where you are, the print is also available in a short-sleeved style: Olivia Floral Print Belted Shirt Dress
While this is not a blue maternity maxi dress, I actually think it would be perfect for moms-to-be looking for baby shower dresses, too! There’s lots of room for a bump in this swingy style.
I have this same Anne silhouette in a gold sequin fabric from the holidays — pictured here! While there is lots of room in this comfortable, caftan-like silhouette, it lays and drapes SO beautifully. It never feels like there’s too much fabric! Truly top notch from a fit and quality perspective.
Blue Baby Shower Dress: Styled Three Ways
Of course, this dress is so much more than just a blue baby shower dress! It has the perfect hues of hydrangea blues that you’ll be reaching for all summer long. Outside of wearing it to a baby shower this past weekend, here are three ways I plan on styling it in the weeks to come…
Styled with Pops of Red
It’s no secret that RED is the color of the season! Pops of red, specifically. Especially as we near closer to Memorial Day and July 4th, I love a nod to a patriotic red, white, and blue outfit.

Paired with Cool Sneakers
If your lifestyle leans more on the casual side, you’re not alone! I love styling my dresses and long skirts with sneakers. You can add a sweater over your shoulders to pull the outfit together in a stylish way!
PS: Metallic sneakers are definitely having a mini moment, too!
I couldn’t decide if I liked the look of the white or the grey sweater better… What’s your take?

Wear it Belted with a Block Heel
To define your waist a bit, I love adding a natural belt! I found this raffia belt on Amazon last year and it’s admittedly not the best quality, but gets the job done. One year later, now that I know just how much I reach for and wear this raffia belt, I plan on upgrading to this one! It’s under $100 and much better quality. A few other options worth considering: $22 at Kohl’s by Lauren Conrad, $40 at Mango, and $60 at Anthro.
