For whatever reason, wearing sneakers with jeans always makes me feeling like I’m wearing the stereotypical mom uniform. (And I don’t mean that in a derogatory way at all, obviously!) Mom or not, a version of this outfit is usually what you can find me in when I’m running errands! This whole ankle thing has been kind of weird… I’m finally out of the boot (HALLELUJAH!), but I have to be pretty careful with my shoe choices if I’m going to be walking around a lot. As I work to rebuild the muscle in my legs and work on my overall balance, it’s apparently important that I have supportive shoes when I’m going to be on my feet or doing some walking. Even in sneakers, my foot and ankle get sore after a while since they were immobile for nine weeks. Patience has never something I’ve been very good at… I always want to dive right in, but I’m doing my best to take it slow! I’ve so badly wanted to throw on my cute pairs of slides or a heeled bootie, but I’ve been sticking to flats and sneakers.
While it’s nice and warm already in a lot of other parts of the country, it’s still pretty effing cold in Chicago. I’m trying to lighten up my wardrobe, but most days I’m still freezing cold! It’s that time of year where your either underdressed or overdressed… It’s really hard to find a middle ground. Even though it says 50, it somehow still feels like 35. Personally, since I’m such a baby about being cold, I tend to err on the side of being overdressed. And chances are, I’m still shivering. I’m trying to be patient (again), but I just can’t wait to put on a sundress and sandals and feel warm outside. Dear all of my friends, can we just all collectively pack up and move somewhere warmer? Why is Chicago where we call home?! Last April when I was visiting Amy, Merritt, and Mackenzie in Dallas, I legitimately went through a two-week phase where I was looking at apartments and considering moving south. I really do like Chicago, but the weather is the effing worst!
White jeans and bright colors help me feel a bit more springy when the weather isn’t following suit! I just got this quilted red Barbour jacket because 1) I figured it would be great for Chicago sporting events and 2) I really don’t have that much red in my closet and it looks great paired with all of my navy. It’s a great spring weight… You can layer warmer tops underneath or lighter tees depending on the weather!
I’ve had these Vineyard Vines corduroy pants for years and I’m obsessed with them. They’re a little bit warmer than regular white jeans, but they still look just as fresh! And I think the texture makes them more flattering than the average pair of white denim.
These sneakers are honestly the most comfortable pairs of shoes I own. They’re available in five colors… I got them in this dusty suede color, too!

Bobbi Brown Lipstick in Vintage Pink
About my lipstick… I’ve been wearing Bobbi Brown liquid lipstick in Vintage Pink, but it reads a little bit more of a rosy red than a pink on my lips. (And especially in these photos.) Just an FYI!
Those sneakers look really comfortable! These look perfect for walking around the city!

Lovely outfit, so casual and comfy, those sneakers seem super comfortable.
Congrats on ditching the boot! These sneakers are a much better alternative! Also loving your red Barbour jacket- bright colors make me feel more spring-forward as well.
I’m forever struggling between cute footwear and comfort. Not only comfort but my feet just HURT like I need orthotics at my ripe age of 28 but that would limit my footwear options further. And I get plantar fasciitis if I wear unsupportive shoes too long. For my feet, the one positive about Chicago weather is I wear my favorite Sam Edelman riding boots basically from October-May. Summer is more of a struggle because all my cute sandals are so not supportive.
I love this coat on you! It’s adorable! And perfect to support the Cubbies and the Bulls :):) I just returned from Florida for spring break, and I had the same thoughts! Whyyyyy do I live in Northern IL?! My husband and I laughed because we actually just bought a house in the burbs, so we will never be moving, but seriously, this weather is tough. I feel you!

I know you don’t want to wear sneakers all the time but for me right now I am going through the same boat as you with a bone spur in my left foot. Doctor only limited me to sneakers for now till the spur gets removed.
I love that red coat, it’s so fun! Barbour jackets are so classic.
