Barrel pants, balloon jeans, this style of pant has a bunch of different names. Essentially, they are a wider leg denim that tapers in at the ankle, creating a slightly curved silhouette. No matter the name, they’re a major win from me… They’re wide-leg enough to be comfy and on-trend, but they still give you a bit of a tailored look. It’s kind of like, “Yes, youth, we see you and we aren’t totally out of touch, but (respectively) we’re not going to repeat the grunge thing we did in middle school and high school.”
Sound like something you can get on board with? I thought so!
I got this pair from Everlane, which is one of my favorite online retailers to shop both the on-trend pieces and closet staples. I’ve found that they usually have a great selection of well-made products at an affordable price point that give a nod to the current trends.
The barrel pants I’m wearing are only $98 and are available in eight different colors/fabrics! They’re high-rise and have the perfect amount of stretch.
I was fully expecting to hate how these fit my body since I don’t have the twiggy legs that you usually see this styled on, but I was so pleasantly surprised. I find them so flattering on! (And that’s coming from a gal with a booty and thicker thighs!)
PS: I took my regular denim size!
If you’re interested in shopping the trend even further, I’ve found some similar styles at a variety of price points to try. But just remember — I can’t personally vouch for the fit of any of the rest of these!
