After a 48-hour trip to LA to film a project with BMW (more on that coming soon!), I hopped on a flight to West Palm Beach for a little girls getaway with Lauren and Mackenzie. It was a long day. While I was in LA, I came down with some sort of head/chest cold, which was less than ideal for filming and a day of travel hiccups. Thank goodness for Postmates being able to deliver some NyQuil and DayQuil to my hotel! I woke up in LA at 5am on Friday morning to pack and get ready before my 6:30am call time. Things went awry with my car reservation so I ended up having to take an Uber all the way to Thousand Oaks from West Hollywood (well over an hour drive with morning traffic!). We filmed all morning and were rushing to wrap the shoot on time since we got a bit of a late start with the transportation situation. We then had to make the 90-minute drive back to LA and then get to LAX for my afternoon flight, so the rushing continued. I knew I was going to have a quick layover in Dallas… We were supposed to land at 7:30pm and then I was to take off again at 8:15pm. My flight took off from LAX on time so I thought I was in the clear! We actually landed early in Dallas, but proceeded to sit on the tarmac for at least 30 minutes waiting for a gate to open up. By the time I got off that plane, my flight to Palm beach was already boarding… In a different terminal. I raced off the plane to get on the tram to switch terminals. (Naturally, the UP escalator was not moving so I had to sprint up the escalator with all of my luggage, which had to have been a funny sight for others. For me, though, I was panting and sweating by the time I got to the top to wait for the tram.) I get on the tram, take it about 4 stops to my new terminal, and start running for the gate. I was the last person on the flight, but I’d made it! Welp, turns out that the flight was also waiting on pilots that were coming in on a delayed flight in a different terminal. So we sat at the gate waiting for the pilots for a good hour before taking off from Dallas. But at least I made it! I finally landed in Florida around 12:30am this morning and made my way to the hotel. I’m so looking forward to some much-needed rest and relaxation in the sun!
I packed a plethora of preppy things for the weekend in Palm Beach… Tons of navy and white, gingham (remember that Old Navy haul?), stripes, eyelet dresses (I just got this one and love it!), and, of course, a few of my Lilly Pulitzer dresses. Yes, I most certainly over-packed, but it was just too hard to narrow down!
One trend I’m loving this season is off-the-shoulder tops and dresses. I typically steer clear of strapless tops and dresses because of my broad shoulders, but I’ve found that off-the-shoulder options are surprisingly flattering! I picked up this blue and white striped dress at Zappos and I absolutely love it.. It’s perfect for upcoming vacations and I know I’ll be wearing it all summer long.
I have family on the gulf side of Florida, so I always end up visiting Naples, South Tampa, and Sarasota when I’m visiting the sunshine state. This is actually my first time in West Palm Beach, but I have a feeling I’m going to love it! I’ve been doing a bit of research for must-sees, eats, shops, etc, but I would love to hear from you if you have any recommendations! Tweet me, or leave a comment below.
