Friday Finds || Vol. 2, Week 50

Jessica Sturdy decorates her Chicago apartment for Christmas.

Ugh, my heart aches (and also smiles) when I remember last year’s colorful Christmas decor. I just love it (and miss it) so much!! Anywayyyy, it’s been a pretty productive week here in Mexico City. I’ve gotten a lot of writing done, planned content to publish in the coming weeks and months, and have been preparing for a fun weekend ahead. We’re having one of our first Kahlo farewells this weekend and doing a little weekend trip to Tepoztlan (if you have any recos, send them my way!) and then one of my guy friends is getting here on Sunday to visit for a few days! I truly can’t believe I fly home in TEN DAYS. Where in the heck does the time go?!

Here are this week’s finds…

An interesting (and sobering) read about a potential financial crisis this coming year.

Another interesting read about “over tourism.” I was not surprised to see Machu Picchu on the list, as we learned about the effects of so many visitors while we were there in September.

My six-year-old niece has a penchant for unicorns and quirky clothing so I couldn’t resist this pair of Van’s sneakers! These fuzzy booties were a close second, though. And I still kind of want to get her this little backpack, too. (Did I mention really rly friggen loves unicorns? haha)

I’m obsessed with my Kyi Kyi Pom Pom Hats and this “mom & me” set is so dang cute!!

A great guide to nighttime photography!

This oversized teddy coat is pretty extra, but I think it might be the one to replace THE teddy once I donate it here in Mexico before I leave!

With all of the holiday parties on the horizon, this feels fitting: How to Pose for Pictures

Loved Hayet’s post about getting to a place of financial freedom!

It’s only been three days (started on Wednesday), but I’m committing to drinking ~16oz of fresh-pressed celery juice first thing in the mornings, on an empty stomach. (You can read about all of the benefits here!) I found a juice shop here in CDMX where I can get a giant jar of pure fresh-pressed celery juice is ~$3 (enough for two days) so that’s a major win. Once I get back, I’m planning to just make it in my Blendtec with water and strainer since I don’t have a juicer.

Remember in this post how I mentioned that the non-profit organization we worked with in Lima was up for a CNN Heroes award?! WELL THEY WON! I’m so excited for Ricardo and the future of Inspira, and so proud of the entire Remote Year nation coming together to help him get the votes needed to win.

Another interesting article in the Times about how hotels are switching it up to attract locals in their lobbies. (Kind of my like favorite spot to work in Chicago, the Chicago Athletic Association!)

I’m obsessed with this coat brand!

This vanity lamp is SO CHIC! And I believe today is the last day to order to receive in time for Christmas.

Wow, reading this article about Arielle & Something Navy was kind of mind-blowing. And I definitelyyyy feel like it’s hinting at a show with Bravo!

This pink sequin skirt is SO extra, but I looove it.

On a more tame note, I think this sequin top (with the bow back!) would be ADORBS with skinny black jeans (or wax-coated jeans!) for NYE!

How gorg is this blush pink velvet chair?! Those legs, OMG!

Holy moly, I am OBSESSED with this striped dress!

WHOA — I was absolutely cringing while reading this first-hand story about an Instagram influencer’s “Master Class.” Yikessss.

Keep going petal – you’re doing great and Christmas will be here again for you in the future. What you’re experiencing now is incredible – obviously you are allowed to feel low sometimes, but try to remember to enjoy it all as best you can too!

There have definitely been some low points, but this isn’t one of them. Just saying that looking at old pictures make me long for that apartment a little bit
