Now that November has arrived and that chill in the air is here to stay, I can’t help but think forward to the holidays! Even more so than usual, I’m really looking forward to soaking up all of the special moments over these next two months. The holidays can be quite hectic and I swear that time flies faster at the end of the year, but my goal this year is to slow down and truly savor the season!
November and December are going to be busy on the blog, in a good way! There are a ton of holiday posts coming your way this month and next. I’ll be starting my annual 25 Days of Gift Guides series this week (on Thursday!) and there are quite a few entertaining posts and a whole slew of holiday party outfits, too!
This little blog turns SEVEN next week, too… Even more reason to celebrate! I can hardly wrap my mind around how incredible these last seven years have been, but I’m going to try in a special post on the 12th. I’ve also been putting together a reader survey to check in with you guys! So look out for that next week.
Oh, and I’ll finally be sharing my trip to Japan this month, too!
Lots of holiday content, but lots of ‘regular’ everyday content, as well. It’s going to be B-U-S-Y, but there will be double the content so I encourage you to check-in regularly! Business-as-usual posts (almost) always go live at 6am CST, but the gift guides and ‘double posts’ will be posted at noon (12pm CST).
The easiest way to stay up-to-date with all things Bows & Sequins is by subscribing to the newsletter! I won’t spam your inbox, I swear. Emails get sent out at 10am CST on Tuesday and Friday mornings with all of the posts that have been published since the last email! It’s as simple as that. (Once in a while, I’ll share exclusive content with email subscribers, but this happens once a month, at the max! Think sale info, travel tips, travel guides, etc. Truth be told, I’m usually juggling too much and skip this newsletter on a monthly basis.)
One last exciting update for today… THE HOLIDAY SHOP IS LIVE! I’ll be adding lots more products over the weeks to come, but some of my favorite gifts to give and items from my wishlist are already up. My favorite part about the shop is the filters on the left-hand side… It makes it so easy to filter by price, recipient, etc! Who else are you shopping for this year?! LMK if there is another category you’d like to see added.
Did you catch yesterday’s Q&A post? Be sure to send in your questions for next week!
Alright, now let’s chat about this outfit! I picked up this pleated velvet cami at Massimo Dutti when I was in Hong Kong last November and it’s such a perfect top for the holidays. I wore it quite a few times last winter and plan on re-wearing it this year, too. Of course, camis are great for layering under moto jackets… This top is perfect for going out when paired under under a little leather jacket! But to add a little extra warmth and switch up your layering style, I love adding a turtleneck underneath. (Either instead of or in addition to your moto jacket!)
My friends give me so much shit about my turtleneck tendencies. Whether it’s a thin layer underneath a top or dress or a thick, cozy sweater, I’m almost always in a turtleneck from November – March. They’re just so much warmer… I mean, would you rather me complain about being cold?! Didn’t think so. But in addition to function, I really do think they’re extremely chic and quite classic. I know they’re kind of “in” right now, but we all know I’ve been sporting my trusty turtlenecks when it wasn’t so cool. And you better believe I’ll still be wearing them when they aren’t as cool in a few seasons time, haha!
I will admit, though, they can look quite conservative. (I think my friends mainly joke around with me when I’m rocking a turtleneck at the bars after midnight, haha. Nothing says single and ready to mingle like a turtleneck sweater, am I right?! 😂🙈)
I bought this sheer turtleneck at Zara last fall, but I’ve seen lots of similar options available this year. (See how I styled it in London here!) I love how mine adds a little bit of texture and pattern, but there are plenty of super sleek styles that are perfect to give a little extra layer to your outfit without looking stuffy.

I’m excited about the holiday season and I love to “glam up” my outfits a little bit more than usual. You’re looking charming in this casual combo and I love your velvet top and statement earrings.

I love this look. Was surprised the jeans were from ON. Cute!
That clutch is amazing. I need it. Also I really enjoy reading your blog.
This outfit is stunning!! I never thought of layering a tank with a turtleneck, and now I am gonna have to try it for myself!
