Back today with another outfit from my trip to London a few weeks ago! After we explored around the city (lunch at Sketch, chocolate tasting at Charbonnel et Walker, a meeting and facial at Elemis, and a cheese tasting at Paxton & Whitfield) it was back to the hotel to change and have a cocktail at the Blue Bar at The Berkeley before heading to dinner at OXO Tower. A busy day with lots of eating involved… Right up my alley! 😜
For dinner and drinks, I went with an outfit that’s a little more edgy than I typically go for. But hey, when in London! My skirt is definitely on the shorter side, so I went with a textured sweater and a big fur coat on top to balance it out. These sock booties have been my go-to’s with skirts this fall… You can see how I styled them on the blog last week with this outfit! They’re super comfortable, the heel height is perfect (a little lift, but extremely walkable!), and the lucite heel is a little something unexpected.
I picked up this vintage fur coat from Lost Girls Vintage during a pop-up event at Soho House in Chicago last month. A portion of the proceeds were being donated to charity, so I had an extra incentive to bring it home with me! I love how the sporty bomber style makes it easier to dress down with a tee shirt and jeans, but it’s just as easy to dress up for fancier affairs. The ruched back helps to keep the front open, too, so it almost wears like an open-front blazer when you don’t have it zipped, l-o-v-e it!ย Typically, I usually opt for faux fur styles, but I don’t mind buying real fur pieces when they’re vintage. What are your thoughts on real fur vs faux?ย I believe this one is from the 60’s, but it’s kind of crazy how the fit of the jacket (bold shoulders and the bomber style) is currently trending again!
PS: Side note for my Chicago gals, I just saw that Lost Girls Vintage opened up a brick & mortar store atย Humboldt House! I can’t find much info online, but check their Instagram for more details.
Since this coat is vintage, I did some digging to find a few similar styles for you to shop if you’re in the market!

So curious to hear everyone’s thoughts on faux vs. fur! My Mom has an AMAZING white mongolian lamb coat that she’s offered me, but I’m not sure if it’s PC to wear it anywhere. She keeps telling me that her philosophy on the jacket is that at least someone ate the poor little lamb…it wasn’t just used for its coat. Thoughts anyone?
Great photography in this post!
Personally I’d say it’s fair game to buy/wear vintage fur but I would never get brand new fur.
Wow, your boots and jacket are major pieces! You’re looking flawless on these photos. ๐

Thanks for your feedback, Karen! I was working with a photographer I’d never worked with before, and I appreciated some of the more ‘artsy’ shots that he took so I wanted to include those, too. Just a little something different, you know? If you’ve been reading for a while, you know I typically include some ‘detail shots’ to show an up-close look at some of the items I’m wearing and we didn’t take any of those, so I included a few extra photos that showed off certain pieces better. And believe it or not, this selection is vastly edited down from the hundreds I received, haha! ๐
I absolutely LOVED the photos in this post, quite different from the usual!
Fur is murder and torture. Vintage or not. Animals suffered and died to be a piece of clothing. I love this blog but feel it’s wrong to promote fur in any way.
