I came across these photos from a picnic Hallie and I had by the lake last summer and figured I’d share them today to kick off the holiday weekend and the start of what’s sure to be a fun month! The view from North Avenue Beach in Chicago is one of my favorites in the city. There’s just something about the Lake Michigan water and the Chicago skyline that kind of takes your breath away! It’s my favorite spot to walk to from my apartment when I need some fresh air and it makes for the most scenic run or bike ride, too. I’ve even caught the sunrise this spot, thanks to jetlag last summer! Even in the winter, it’s still gorgeous if you’re bundled up. (Remember this post and this post?)
For the record, though… You can’t drink here. An officer pulled up on a four-wheeler and informed us that even if it was “just for the pictures” we couldn’t have an open bottle of champagne. Whoops! Noted.
Just fill up your S’well bottle with rosé, no one will ever know. 😉

I really like your picnic blanket and your tray. The latter creates a sense of luxury in your photos. It’s a shame you were in trouble for the champagne bottle. I am confident that this would never have happened in most European cities.
