Visiting a tree farm in the city is always one ofย my favoriteย to-do’s on my December list!ย I shared this post last year, chatting about my love for Christmas trees lining the sidewalks in New York. Visiting a little tree farm in Chicago sort of takes me back! For the last few years, I’ve always boughtย a real wreath to be able to come home to that pine smell over the holiday season. But this was going to be the year that I was going to finally have a real tree! And I do have one now. But it wasn’t as picturesque as you might think…
Melissa and I shot these photos on a Friday and my goal was to come back to the tree farm on Sunday to take home the tree. But those two days really got me thinking… I realized I was probably not capable of unloading a tree at home by myself, hauling it up to my apartment, getting it in the tree stand, etc. And talk about the mess… Yikes!
So on that Sunday, I was en route to Target to buy a fake, pre-lit tree when my inner New Yorker came out and was like, “Hey, you’ve got to be able to find a way to get this thing delivered.” I did some quick Googling, clicked on the first thing that came up, and had a tree ordered, tree stand rented (no storage!), and a delivery date setย (pick up, too!) in like 5 minutes. Honestly, one of the easiest things I’ve ever done. Was it as festive as picking out the perfect tree in person? Not really, but that’s what the visit to the tree farm was for. 😉
For those of you in Chicago, I used this site. I got to pick the size of my tree, opted for the in-home set up, rented a tree stand, and set the delivery date and time window all at once. I even scheduled the pick-up date, where they will come back and pack the tree up and take it away! This is in NO WAY sponsored at all, I am just really happy with the service and want to share the wealth! I was terrified that the tree was going to look awful once it arrived, but it’s just as perfect as it would have been if my nit-pickyย self was picking it out. I probably should have gotten it a foot taller, but that’s more so based on my poor judgement. I chose 6-7′ instead of 7-8′ … I really wanted a 7′ tree, but 8′ would have been too big. Mine is closer to 6′, I think. The delivery guys were really nice and got it set up in a flash… And even cleaned up most of the loose needles along the way. We had a bit of an issue with them trying to find the freight entrance to my building with all of the one-way streets, but it was painless overall! I’d definitely recommend the service, I’m sure I’ll be using it again next year.
This colorful winter sweater is so fun for the holidays. I love how it’s not too Christmas-y, but is still very festive. I think I’m going to buy this one next with the current 40% off… We all know I love a good turtleneck. 😜

Loveee delivery services that make things so, so easy for me ๐ I have yet to get my own Christmas tree, but if and when I ever do, I’ll definitely seek out something similar! This outfit is so cute too, love the fair isle print!
This is what I need I wonder if we have that in Atlanta! I would love a real tree but don’t want to deal with the lugging of it, setting it up etc. PS love this sweater!
