Sharing a casual, but subtly festive fall/winter look today that’s perfect for those warmer days down south! Fun fact: It was actually, like, 8 degrees in Chicago when I had to take these photos, but I wanted to share my new shirt and new boots with you guys. Gotta do what you gotta do, ya know?!
Typically, my family spends the holidays down in Florida, but there’s been a little change in plans this year. We’ll be staying in Illinois with a few family members coming into town instead! I’m slightly bummed to be missing the annual winter escape, but am thankful I don’t have to get on another plane for the holidays. I thought this shirt was going to be perfect for the holidays in the sunshine state, but for now it will be hanging in my closet waitingย for unseasonably warm days, trips, and next fall in the midwest!
I just got this off-the-shoulder plaid shirt a few weeks ago, but unfortunately it’s already sold out! (You can always try checking with your local Vineyard Vines store…) I love how it’s a fun update on a regular button-front plaid shirt. So much more feminine!
Here are a few similar styles I found…
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect pair of cognac-colored suede over-the-knee boots! I have a few pairs of black OTK boots, and even a grey pair, but had nothing in the brown family. I wanted a pair that didn’t look too country-western… A pair that was easy to dress up or down. I wanted them to have a covered suede heel so they’d be easier to dress up, versus a pair with a wooden type of heel. And, of course, I wanted them to be easy to wear with a comfortable heel height… Nothing over 3.5″ tall. And man, oh man, I had my work cut out for me! I found the perfect pair, but they were quite the investment — $800 — so I kept searching until I found the pair I’m wearing here! (And great news: they areย well under $200!)
I had never heard of the brand, but I have been happy with the quality so far! At first, I wished they were slightly more fitted through the calf, but I’ve actually come around to liking how they’re kind of slouchy-ish. The color really does go with everything, too!
Here are a few over-the-knee boots in the same shade if you’re also on the hunt…

I cannot believe it was that cold when you took these pics! You look like it’s balmy out– haha!! But I’m in the Chicago burbs, so I KNOW it wasn’t! I am in search of the perfect OTK boot.. and I adore yours! Can you stand in them a long period of time? Or are they not as good for standing? I am on my feet all day at work, so I just wanted to check ๐ thank you!

You are brave! I have been avoiding any outdoor activities when it’s -0 degrees!
