I truly can’t believe that the busiest travel day of the year is here. Thanksgiving, you guys. Where did 2014 go?! Hallie recently told me about a quote she read… “You live life at the speed limit of your age.” So true, right?! Each year just flies by faster than the last.
Long story short, all of my family members haveย plans out of the ordinary forย the holiday weekend so I just decided to stay in New York City instead. And to be honest, after all of the travel I did earlier this fall, I actually don’t mind that I’m staying local this Thanksgiving. I plan on catching up on quite a few things during my few days out of the office — sleep, magazines, workouts, books, mental sanity, and blog posts… just to name a few.
Considering I flew over 16,000 miles last month (true story.. #JetSetJess), I know a thing or two about traveling… And traveling in style. For me, layering is key. A faux fur vest and scarf are traveling essentials! No matter if I’m taking the train to Providence for work or flying to the midwest for a weekend trip, I love to layer during my travel. My body temperature does some weird shit when I’m in the air.. My teeth are jittering from being so coldย or I’m sweating profusely, there’s no in between. Thus, I’ve learned to appreciate a good layer! I always wear my bulkiest layers (faux fur vest, boxy jacket, thick sweater, etc) rather than packing them in my carry-on suitcase to save room. And if I’m bringing a hat, I always wear it during my travels. It’s the only way to save the shape!
Also, since luggage seems to always be a topic of conversation this time of year.. I got this Delsey hard-sided luggage set (this is the smallest of the 3 sizes and fits in the overhead bins perfectly!) my senior year of college and it’s still going strong. I use this carry-on size suitcase sometimes every single weekend (I always try to carry on my bag!) and it’s in perfect condition. (It has some scrapes and scuffs and what not, but still functions like new!) Highly recommend, especially for the price.

Jessica,
I love your travel outfit. I agree – layers are a great idea when on a plane; you never know if it will be cold or hot onboard. I also really like the suitcase – my suitcase is really old – I think I bought it from TJMaxx yearssss ago. I really need an upgrade and love new ideas.

I love this look! You’re such a chic traveller ๐ For me, travel dressing is all about layers, so you can always remove one or add one. I like your scarf – it goes well with the coat!
