New Neighborhoods

When I first moved to New York, I was quite the explorer. Walking through new-to-me neighborhoods and discovering quaint coffee shops, fun little boutiques, and entirely too many bakeries (#cupcakeconnoisseur) was a large part of my weekend routine. But once I got more settled into my new home and found “my spots,” I kind of let my curiosity fall to the wayside.

Last Sunday, I participated in the 1st Annual Cycle for a Cure, an event held at FlyWheel on the Upper West Side that raised money for the National MS Society. When I was looking up the location, I realized that my UWS knowledge didn’t go above Lincoln Center. Thoughts like, “Wait, is there even a subway on the UWS?”ย andย “How have I lived in NYC for over a year and never gone anywhere on the UWS?!”ย were flooding my mind.

In an attempt to broaden my uptown horizons, I headed up to the UWS a few hours before the fundraiser to check out the area and I kind of fell in love. It reminded me so much of Chicago! Now, do I think I will move to the UWS anytime soon? Absolutely not (It’s just so far from everything!), but I definitely discovered some charm and can’t wait to make the trek back up there. Being so close to the Park is a major plus, too!

Since I was headed to workout after wandering, I didn’t want to get dressed up, but didn’t want to look like a slob either. That’s where the adidas Twist Collection comes in.ย ย The line features functional separates that are able to be worn just about anywhere โ€“ yoga, pilates, running, spin class, walking the dog, and even to run errands!ย The adidas Boyfriend V-Neck Tee is also a favorite of mine. Itโ€™s a simple style (thatโ€™s super soft!) that can be worn for the toughest workouts (like a spin class in a hot-as-Bikram room), but also for a leisurely weekend walk through the park. I love the longer length, too!

I didn’t know you still hadn’t been up there!! I love the UWS-if I had money and plans to move into Manhattan, it’s probably where I’d live haha. The 70’s-90’s on Columbus & Amsterdam have some amazing boutiques, restaurants and coffee shops. There’s also a Magnolia for cupcakes in there somewhere ๐Ÿ˜‰ we’ll have to make a point to head back up there sometime soon!

I remember I walked from Wall Street all the way up to 92nd St one day and ended the day back at the Central Park Zoo. EVERY street in NYC is a new experience. I am totally living though you. Enjoy every minute lady. NYC is THE most amazing place to live. =)

You’re adorable! I love the UWS. I have a hard time gauging how far things are form each other in NYC because I took the subway everywhere when I visited.

Your jumping photoshoot is so cute! ๐Ÿ™‚ And I especially love your Nikes… I have the same pair! It’s always fun exploring a new city. When I moved to Seattle for the first time, I actually ended up just buying a bunch of tourist guides like a total newbie, and took each free weekend as an excuse to get out of my house!

I love hearing that you find similarities between Chicago and the Upper West Side! Mitch desperately wants to move to Chicago… But I’m scared, as I’ve only ever lived in NYC. ๐Ÿ˜‰ This gives me hope! ๐Ÿ™‚

    You look adorable!
