There have been countless times within the last few weeks that the conversation has turned to me and my hair “secret.” I don’t even know how it happens, but before you know it we are talking about the vitamins and supplements I swear by and I’m texting/emailing/writing them down on the back of a business card. Seriously — Julia, Amanda, Hallie, Christine, Rachel, and Dana from Glam can all vouch! 😉
I figured I would write a little blog post to refrain from sounding like a broken record in the future. So here you have it…
First step, Biotin. Great for your nails and hair! I take 5,000 mcg per day. I noticed a drastic change in my nails withing a week or two! And I think my hair is much stronger now, also. You can find Biotin online or at your local drugstore. Pretty cheap, too!
Next, Viviscal. It’s a twice-daily supplement with some strange-sounding ingredients (Shark Powder and Horsetail Extract), but hey — it works! For more info/ingredients, see the Viviscal Website. My hair has grown so much faster (my Arrojo bill can vouch for this!) and I’m only 2 months in. (You’re supposed to take 2 pills daily for 3-6 months and then take 1 pill per day after that to maintain.) But OMG my eyelashes, THAT’S where I’ve noticed a huge difference so far. Maybe it’s the Biotin, too, who really knows. But I’m not complaining! I’ve always had long eyelashes (thank you, Mom & Dad), but they’re super long and much thicker now!
If you want a few more opinions on Viviscal, it was just featured on VanityFair.com!
And now, the questions. I know you’ve got them. I’ll try to answer a few that I’ve gotten so far…
Q: Why do you take Biotin AND Viviscal? A: Biotin is in Viviscal, yes, but your daily intake of Biotin via Viviscal is only 240 mcg. 5,000 > 240
Q: I’ve read a review of Viviscal that said her hair fell out in clumps in the shower. Is this true? A: Yes and No. Hear me out — A few weeks, maybe a month, after I started taking Viviscal, there was one week that I felt like more hair was falling out in the shower than usual. Since then, I have definitely noticed that LESS hair falls out in the shower. I’m attributing the one week hair loss to the fact that Viviscal is supposed to promote existing hair growth, and perhaps it was just speeding up the natural hair growth cycle? I’m no scientist, but this makes sense in my mind.
Any other questions? Feel free to ask in the comments below!
As for a hair tutorial on how I get my every day waves, stay tuned! I plan on filming it as soon as I get settled in my new place in a few weeks. 🙂

Another Disclaimer: I am in no way compensated by Viviscal or Biotin. I may sound like a salesman, but I just believe in the products. Trust.
