Night at the W

ย

As the seasons change (Hello Spring, we’ve missed you in New York!), I always find that my skincare needs change, too. My skin has started to get oily by the time my daily 3 o’clock slump rolls around. I’ve started to be more obsessive about my SPF application now that it’s sunny on the way to work and when I leave the office. And I generally just want to “lighten up” for the warmer months ahead. I figure it’s probably time for me to ditch the heavy face creams and find a way to combat the shine that’s going to be creeping up on my face over the next few months.

Seeing as I didn’t want to spend a fortune, I headed to Walgreens to check out what they had to offer. I tend to get overwhelmed with all of the great options, so I asked one of their in-store beauty advisors to help me enhance my skin care for spring and summer! Let’s just say that Candice is my new best friend.

First, I told her about my not-so-little shine issue. I told her that I feel like you could fry an egg on my face by the time dinner rolls around. She led me to these Neutrogena long lasting Blotting Sheets! I already decided that I’m going back to buy a pack for each of my handbags. #nobrainer

Candice asked about my lifestyle and other needs and I told her that I usually head straight to the gym (or Soul Cycle, let’s be honest) after work and then run errands before I come home and make dinner. Since I’m constantly on the go, she recommended that I try these Neutrogena Makeup Remover Towelettes. She said they would be perfect for my gym bag for both pre- and post-workout! So far, so good. As much as I love working out, I don’t love the breakouts that come along with it, so hopefully removing my makeup before/after the gym will help!

I also told her about my sunscreen concerns and she asked if I used any SPF on my lips. I kind of looked at her blankly and said, “I mean, I guess my moisturizer might get on my lips a bit?” Candice told me that wasn’t going to cut it. She showed me this Neutrogena Lip Balm with SPF 20 and I was intrigued. It comes in a variety of different colors, has a good level of SPF protection, and is supposed to make your lips softer and healthier-looking over time! S.o.l.d. Let me just tell you, I am obsessed. I opened it on my way home from Walgreens that night and haven’t left the house without it since! It’s not sticky at all and leaves just the right amount of color for any time of day.

Candice, my Walgreens beauty advisor, also told me about a fun event that’s happening at your local Walgreen’s later this month! Night at the W on May 22nd. I’ve marked my calendar and so should you!

There will be more lovely beauty advisors, like Candice, on hand to discuss skin care and cosmetics, too. Plus, there will be free samples and lots of prizes! You will have the opportunity to enter the Night at the W “Expect the Unexpected” sweepstakes when you purchase select Neutrogena products. Prizes include a trip to Arizona, $50 Walgreens gift cards, and Neutrogena gift baskets!

Hope to see you there!

This is great! I’ve been needing an excuse to update my Spring products. Do you happen to know if it’s happening at Duane Reades too or just Walgreens?

The Neutrogena lip balm is the best!! I have the plum color and have been using it for a few years now. Best color too. I have to order it online because they don’t have it in stores here anymore.

A new flagship Walgreens just opened in Downtown Crossing in Boston. The make up section is gorgeous! It looks like a high end department store.
