Booty Basics

Last time I was getting my hair done, my stylist and I were talking about getting in shape. She was wearing the cutest high waisted skirt with a crop top and I asked her how she keeps her abs in such great shape. Since I’m trying to get in better shape and she’s getting ready for her wedding later this summer (and we’re both SoulCycle lovers), we always seem to be trading workout tips and tricks.

When it comes to workouts, I generally have the mindset of “go big or go home.” I’ll go to a spin class, go to hot yoga, go to the gym and do cardio and a little bit of weigh training, etc. However, she had some advice that really got me thinking. She said she does squats and some ab work every night before she does to bed. Even if it’s just 50 crunches and 20 squats… Every little bit helps when it comes to toning! I had never really thought about doing small increments of certain moves outside of a workout, but it’s so smart and I truly felt like I’ve seen a difference in both the abs and booty.

If you’re looking for a more intense booty workout, you have to check out this video from Sarah Fit. OMFG, guys. I seriously thought my legs were going to catch fire… And it’s only a 12 minute workout! Those damn split lunge jumps.. Killers. Let me know if you try it! I was definitely sore for two days after. Big props to Sarah for doing the video in a park… I wouldn’t be able to do the workout outside the confines of my own living room from how much I was suffering. Long way to go to get in shape, but I guess it’s all part of the journey!

But hey, until we get to where we want to be, at least we’ve got the adidas Performer Tights. Remember this post? They help to flatten the tummy and lift the booty!

FYI: We took these photos after I got off work and before I hit the gym, hence the makeup and curled hair. Have to admit that’s not my typical gym look! 😉

I totally have the same mindset–I’m either home doing nothing or at spin or body combat working hard–It’s just so hard to switch my mind into thinking about exercising in smaller increments. I have started doing Barre3 workouts too to help with toning and the online videos can be broken into 10 minute sections, so I’ve been trying to at least do a few of those when I don’t feel like hitting the gym. Loving those workout tights too!

I have read your blog for awhile but I have to say I am offended by your casual use of God’s name in vain. There are other ways to get your point across. I really enjoy your blog and hope you will avoid such comments in the future in your posts.

You look great and this is such good advice. It’s easy to just skip it all if you don’t have time for a full work out, but even adding in 10 minutes keeps you in the right mindset.

Thank you for sharing the tips and reminding us that looking good includes feeling good, healthy and strong. I find it especially challenging once days get shorter, darker and colder to get to the gym. These at home tips will help!

I wish we had a soul cycle somehwere in North Carolina or Louisiana. If I had cute clothes like those, I would work out every day!
