4th of July in Chicago

by Jessica Sturdy on July 11, 2014

I spent 4 nights in Chicago over 4th of July weekend and I couldn’t have had a better time! Boats, best friends, beer, and a whole lot of other fabulous things that don’t start with B… Does it get any better? The weather was absolutely gorgeous, too. While it was monsoon-ing on the 4th in NYC, my friends and I were out on Lake Michigan on a 45 ft. sailboat. Definitely made the right decision by flying west for the weekend! The views of the Chicago skyline were absolutely perfect. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky, either. I didn’t have the guts to jump into the lake, but a few of my friends did and they said the water was COLD. I was perfectly content staying warm & dry on the boat. Naturally, I was the resident photographer on the boat and took well over 200 pictures during the 3 hour sail. Here are some of my favorite snaps from the weekend…

^ About to go overboard while taking pictures. Holding on was a must…

^ The view from The Terrace at The Trump. It’s an outdoor patio on the 16th floor of the Trump Tower / Hotel. We were just above the Chicago River with an insanely perfect view of the fireworks at Navy Pier.

Hope you had a safe & happy 4th of July, too! Now, on to another lovely summer weekend..

Love the photos! Friends and I have been looking at sailing on the lake during a weekend, what company did you go through?

Beautiful photos- If you like Leinenkugel, try Illlusive Travler- it’s similar, but has a grapefruit taste!

I spent this weekend in Chicago too. I caught the 5th of July fireworks from the Navy Pier. You definitely had a better fireworks view than I did though. The skyline perfectly framed yours!
