The new Wayfair Chicago store is now open in Wilmette, just north of the city! I couldn’t be more thrilled about this news, as I’m always searching for new decor and furniture stores in the area.
I stopped by to get a look at the space during their Friends & Family opening this past weekend and couldn’t have been more wowed! The store completely shattered all of my expectations, in the best way possible.
Where is the Wayfair store in Chicago?
The new Wayfair store in Chicago is in Edens Plaza, just off the highway at Lake Ave, which makes it super convenient if you’re coming from the city or the northern suburbs. The exact address to plug into your GPS is 3232 Lake Avenue, Wilmette, IL 60091.
This store is Wayfair’s firstย large-format brick and mortar store! And it’s in Chicago… Beyond exciting. The grand opening is on Thursday, May 23rd, and exciting in-store events and activities will be happening all weekend long. The store opens at 10 am Monday through Saturday and 11 am on Sundays.
The Wayfair store in Chicagoย is absolutely huge โ it’s very spacious and so well-merchandised. Unlike a lot of large stores where you can find a great deal, shopping at Wayfairย truly feltย like such an elevated shopping experience!
Inside the Wayfair Chicago Store
Outside of the opening events, there are tons of entertainment options for both shoppers and non-shoppers at the Wayfair Chicago store. There’s an indoor/outdoor restaurant called The Porch which has a bunch of seemingly delicious food (and drink!) options on the menu. The coffee is by Dollop and there’s also wine and beer for purchase that you’re able to enjoy while shopping. Outside, there are a bunch of picnic tables and Adirondack chairs to enjoy some sunshine if the weather allows, too.
The Wayfair Store is dedicated to all things home. When you walk in, you’ll find so many great seasonal decor pieces. Most of the first floor is dedicated to living room furniture and it felt like you’d be able to find something no matter your decorating style. They’ve expertly designed little vignettes with different vibes… coastal, modern, traditional, colorful, natural, etc. There’s a wall dedicated to sofas under $1,000, an entire section of throw pillows, decorative bins for organization, rugs, and an entire design studio dedicated to custom upholstery, too.
Near the escalators upstairs, you’ll find just about everything you could need for your kitchen — dinnerware, glassware, flatware, etc. All of the wares!
Upstairs, you’ll find a section where you can test mattresses, the children’s department, a shower experience where you can test different showerheads with your hands, a pet section, and an entire outdoor furniture and patio decor department, too.
My MIL said the building used to be Carson Pirie Scott, but you’d never know it was the same store. There’s now a big skylight on the roof that lets in a ton of natural light. Moms take note โ the upstairs kid zone will be a great place to visit on cold or rainy days!
Typically, I try not to share too much local news here on the blog, since I know not all of you are based around Chicago. For those of you who aren’t local and not able to visit the new Wayfair store, I wanted to share some of my favorite finds from my shopping trip… All shoppable online!
