I keep finding myself saying “How is it already August?!?!” But here we are cruising right on through. I once heard someone say, “August is the Sunday of summer.” 💡 So true, isn’t it?? And if you’re anything like me, you just might be in your ‘Sunday Scaries’ era at the current moment.
I get so bummed when summer starts to wind down, but at the same time, I’m desperately craving a bit more routine or structure that always feels impossible to find in the summertime. Who knows, maybe it’s just a Chicago thing because we have a handful of months to make the most of the nice weather.
As I look at my goals for August, the main thing on my mind is CONSISTENCY. In fact, that was my 2023 Word of the Year that I set back in January.
I’ve always found it pretty powerful to set intentions. For the year, the day, a workout class, a conversation, you name it. When the going gets tough (as it always does and always will), I find it easier to get through it when I remember the intention I set.
I haven’t publicly shared my words for the year in a few years, but I can link some older posts belowโฆ
This year, my intention has been all about consistency. (Well, until summer rolled around.)
I tend to be a zero or 100 type of personโฆ I get so excited about something and go all in, only to switch gears to the next thing I’m focused on. (Yes, I have ADHD.)
I’ve actually written a fair amount about goals and intentions over the yearsโฆ
Itโs Never Too Late to Start Over
My favorite quote from Daveโs dad is, โNo matter how far youโve gone in the wrong direction, itโs never too late to turn around.โ I forget where he got that from or who originally said it, but itโs such a great piece of advice that I always find myself repeating.
If summer has completely derailed your productivity plans (like it has mine 🙋♀️), itโs not too late to turn it around. We still have FIVE MONTHS left in the year. We’re only halfway through Q3.
It’s the perfect time to re-visit your goals or intentions you’ve previously set, and course-correct for how to move forward this fall!
We got this, fam. 👊
