Work Wear with a Feminine Flair

Styling another office-appropriate outfit for you today! When I did my 7-year reader survey last fall, I was reminded that so many of you reading this blog are usually working in an office and looking for work wear inspiration. While it’s important that my blog feels authentic to me and my lifestyle (I haven’t worked in a typical office for the last three years), I always want to keep your needs and wants in mind, too. So when I found this gorgeous ruffled-hem dress in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to marry the two!

I’m always on the hunt for dresses that can be worn a million different places. To me, there’s nothing easier than throwing on a dress! It makes getting dressed a heck of a lot quicker, doesn’t it? And some days you’re just not in the mood to pick out a cute outfit or don’t have time… I totally get it, and I’m in both boats pretty often. That’s when a dress like this one saves the day!

I love the classic fit and flare silhouette, as it’s always the most flattering on my body type! This dress is perfect for the office, but the ruffled hem and bell sleeves keep things fun and feminine at the same time. It could even be styled for a fall wedding, too! Church, special brunches and family events, showers of all kinds… You can wear this little number just about anywhere. Plus, it’s on sale for under $100 right now! Win, win.

It comes in pine (that I’m wearing here), wine, and navy… Three gemstone hues that wear as neutrals all fall and winter long! (You could definitely style this dress with OTK boots or tights and booties later this year, too!)

If you’re in need of another office-approved option to help get you through the rest of the summer, check out this dress. Similar color, same price, and a very similar silhouette! It’s one of those great pieces that you can wear right now and also transition to fall with a great moto jacket and suede booties.

Speaking of work wear, I knew I had to share this bag with you when I saw it! I have a navy blue Kate Spade bag that I’ve been wearing over and over since 2015, but sadly, it sold out shortly after I got it. (Much to a lot of readers dismay! You can check it out on the blog here, here, here, here, & here.) It’s always been a challenge to find similar options whenever I wear it… Finding cute navy blue handbags is oddly a lot harder than it seems like it would be.

This bag is almost the exact same size, has similar texture details, and also comes with a shoulder strap! (Which makes it great for toting your laptop. I have a 12″ Macbook and it fits very easily! I think a 13″ would be just fine, too, because it fits my legal pads easily. Sidenote: I’m such a list maker that I only use legal pads for the added length. 😂) The color of this one has hints of copper, too, which makes it even more versatile. Plus, its the perfect leather if you’re hard AF on your bags (like I am)… It’s pretty hard to put any wear on this type of texture!

Hi! Will be traveling to Chicago end of August. Wonder if you could suggest some boutique hotels to stay at. Close to activities or sites would be great. It would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Thank you for the work wear post! I work full-time, am in school part-time, and a sometime blogger Iโ€™m always looking for office attire, and for dresses that I can wear to the office, and on the weekends. I need lots of clothes that pull double-duty! Thank you!
