Nope, you’re not seeing things. I’m just wearing yet another black and red outfit in front of a Christmas tree. ‘Tis the season! But when you live a hop, skip, and a jump away from a giant Christmas tree, it’s bound to become the backdrop for all of your holiday photos.
I knew I wanted a red dress for this holiday season (I got this one on Zappos!), but once it came in the mail, styling was trickier than I imagined. This dress has seaming at the waist that acts as a belt, so no belt needed! When I was accessorizing, I tried multiple belts (some thin, some thick) over the seams, but it was better without. Sometimes black and red can look a little too Santa-y for my liking, so I tossed my patchwork stole over my shoulders to break it up a bit. I love how it turned out in the end. Festive, but not too over the top!
Need some more styling ideas? I love the dress and black pumps/tights combo paired with a leopard clutch, minus the patchwork stole. Super fun! I even paired one of my faux fur vests over the dress and tights and loved that in place of the stole. And if you live in a place where you don’t need to wear tights, you can’t go wrong with a blanket scarf and nude pumps.
PS- If you’re considering this dress, definitely size up! It runs pretty tight, especially in the shoulders. I ordered the larger size of the two sizes I’m usually in between and it still felt pretty tight in the arms. I just told myself it’s from all the bicep curls we’ve been doing in Hallie’s SoulCycle class… 😉
