Oh hey there, Friday. I thought you’d never come! It was a long, long week over here. I came down with an awful cold/cough/sinus thing on Sunday night and spent most of the week locked up indoors with a 101 degree fever, tea, all of the medicine, and lots of boxes of Kleenexes. Thankfully, I’m feeling so much better today, but I’m going to try to take it easy this weekend to make sure it’s totally out of my system. I’m pretty sure I get sick each and every time the seasons change!
But on to more appealing subjects… Casual Friday! If you’re at a company where you can wear jeans throughout the week, count your blessings. I’ve worked for companies where nice jeans were allowed any day of the week, and companies where they were only allowed on Friday. With the latter, it’s definitely something to look forward to!
When you’re rocking denim in the work place, always make sure it’s a well-fitting pair of dark rinse jeans, without any rips or holes. Unless you work in a creative field where pretty much anything goes, leave your destroyed jeans and boyfriend jeans at home. While subtle fading is just fine, look for a pair that is on the darker side, without too much color variation.
To avoid looking sloppy, I always try to pair my jeans with something a little bit more structured on the top. Structured doesn’t have to mean fussy, though! Take this metallic tweed jacket, for example. It’s super fun and has a hint of sparkle, but still lends itself to the professional side. The color way of the tweed mixes shades in such a way that you can wear it with purples, blues, yellows, and neutrals. Super versatile!
