I don’t know about you guys, but the slightly warmer spring temperatures have me in full-on fitness mode! It’s (usually) still light out when I leave the office, it’s nice enough to just wear a light jacket instead of a heavy fleece, and bikini season is just around the corner. All of these factors have me itching to get my sweat on each and every day. And if I’m really good, sometimes twice a day.
The only thing that can put a damper on your spring workouts are those pesky rain showers. The saying may indicate that these showers should let up after April, but we all know how Mother Nature likes to linger. (I mean, I’m pretty sure winter lasted like 8 months this year. Maybe I’m slightly exaggerating, but it sure as heck felt that long.)
Since tank tops, short shorts, and swimsuits will soon be our weekend wardrobe staples, there’s no time to skip a workout because of the weather. Luckily, three of my favorite workouts are indoor so I don’t really have an excuse.
1. Spin Classes – Spin studios are all the rage right now! Whether you’re heading to SoulCycle (you know I’m obsessed), FlyWheel, the spin class at your gym, or any of the other boutique studios that have opened up in your area, you’re sure to torch the calories.
For spin classes, I prefer a cropped tight, a medium-support sports bra, and a looser-fitting tank top. Most of the time, you’ll be clipping into your bike with cycling shoes so you don’t have to worry about which sneakers provide the right amount of support. My favorite shoes for going to-and-from my indoor workout classes are the adidas adipure Trainers. PS- Don’t forget your headband for these classes! Sweat + Eyeballs = Ouch.

2. Barre Classes – Barre studios are also popping up all over the place! These ballet-inspired, kind-of-like-pilates workout classes that target your abs, arms, thighs, & glutes may not be cardio intensive, but trust me, you will be hurting by the end of class. (Or rather like 5 minutes in, let’s be honest here.) One of my favorite classes is the Core Fusion Barre class at Exhale Spa. There’s also Pure Barre, FlyBarre, the Bar Method, Physique 57, and countless others.
For these types of classes, I like to wear a cropped tight (You can definitely wear a full tight, I just always prefer cropped for whatever reason.), a light-support sports bra, and a workout tee. I can’t wear a regular cotton t-shirt to workout anymore… There’s just something about the circulation. I have to have a tee that was made to sweat in, like the adidas Ultimate Tee. Oh, and don’t forget your socks! I learned the lesson the hard way by forgetting mine and having to buy a $14 pair at the studio. It was either that or skip the class. Live and learn, I suppose.
PS- If you haven’t read this story about a guy doing a barre class for the first time, ENJOY. 😉

3. Yoga Classes – Not exactly a new trend, but pretty much everyone can benefit from yoga! Especially after spinning and all of that muscle toning, it’s going to feel amazing to stretch out. For me personally, yoga is also one of my secrets for keeping a healthy mind, aka: not going batshit crazy on the reg staying sane.
For yoga class, I always wear a cropped tight (yet again), a light-support sports bra, and a fitted tank top. While I usually prefer a loose top when I workout, when your head is below your hips, you’re going to be glad you went with the fitted option.

Love your adidas workout gear 🙂 I’ve yet to try their line but I’m trying to try out other brands (besides lululemon) so I might give their’s a go.
My favorite workouts are weight training and barre classes. Pure barre is my absolute favorite if you’re looking to drop some lbs and tone VERY QUICKLY. But it’s crazy expensive.

Cute outfits! I really need some new gear- the old college t-shirts are getting old.
This isn’t a class — but my gym recently got two new machines that are like…stair treadmills? Stairs unfold at the top and fold in at the bottom — and you walk/run up. And the sweat pours. It’s such a great way to work hard, but in a short period of time!
Thank you for making my day with the link to the guy doing a barre class for the first time. I lol’ed through the whole thing! As someone who started doing barre classes a few months ago, I still feel like that with some of the moves! Best/worst workout ever. If you have a chance to try the core barre classes they are a MUST do and amazing workout!
Love this post!
