Mom’s Weekend: Maritime

This weekend is Mom’s Weekend! I’m so excited for my mom to visit on Saturday! I was planning my outfit for our dinner on Saturday and started to reminisce about the absolutely GORGEOUS dress that I wore a year ago on Mom’s Weekend.

Last year I was the ‘Mom’s Weekend Committee Chair’ for my business fraternity. I am in love with event planning and I think the dinner last year was a huge success. It was a beautiful reception at a local country club. There was an acapella comedy group performance, scrumptious food, and a silent auction. I had the idea to give out customized frames as party favors and take pictures of each member and their mom. How many pictures do you have of you and your mom all dolled up? If you’re anything like my family, not many! I wanted to change that, especially for all of the boys. I cannot tell you how many moms came up to me to tell me how much they enjoyed the event… and how much they LOVED MY DRESS! Seriously, my dress may have been more of a hit than the event itself, and that is saying a lot. (Not trying to toot my own horn, I promise!)

I am so in love with Milly dresses. Every time I “Rent the Runway” it is almost always Milly. They just fit me like a glove, not to mention all of the glitter and bows and girliness! This particular dress is the Milly Nautical Rope Dress. I rented it for about $50, but I want to buy it- I don’t care if it is $395. I.Need.To.Have.It. Problem is, I can’t find the dress on the internet anywhere. I am considering contacting Rent the Runway to try and buy one of theirs. Hey- Have you ever used Rent the Runway??  I’d love to hear about your experiences!

This was back before outfit posts were a regular part of my life so I apologize for the lack of pictures featuring my accessories. I only have this solo pic because we were trying to test the lighting for all of the mommy pictures! I paired the dress with a pearl cluster bracelet and these very chic pearl drop earrings. I’ll have to show them to you in another post! Don’t you just love how nautical this dress is? I DO. If you know me at all, you know I get weak-in-the-knees for any combination of navy blue and white.

I can’t wait to show you what I am going to wear to the dinner this weekend. You will honestly laugh out loud when you see how similar the dress is. 🙂

ps- How tan was I?? I had just gotten back from Naples, FL. Didn’t get that kind of color in Mexico this year, I’ll tell ya that.
