With the entire city of Chicago buzzing about Lollapalooza over the last week, I’ve had music on the mind. I’m going to Lolla all three days this weekend and I’m so excited! This year’s lineup is incredible. The challenging part, though? What to wear!
I always get confused with what to wear to music festivals. My predominately preppy aesthetic isn’t exactly what you think of when you think festival chic. Am I right? Since I prefer fringe, leather, suede, floral crowns, and crop tops in small doses, I tend to feel like my festival fashion is a bit on the boring side compared to other festival-goers.
I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of black destroyed denim jeans for what feels like forever now. My obsession began last fall, but I never found a pair that I wanted to commit to. For me, finding the perfect pair of jeans is one challenging task. I’m sure you can relate!
Since I’m hosting the Express Jeans Event next week (you’re invited — more info on that below!), I was browsing around the store a few days ago and fell in love with these black jeans. This outfit is just about as “rock and roll” as I get! Lydia, my old photographer in New York, used to always laugh when I would think I was wearing an edgy outfit. “Girl, that’s bows edgy.” I can still hear her saying it now!
I picked up these jeans and this incredibly soft tank to wear for a night at Lolla this weekend, but unfortunately I think it’s going to be a little bit too hot for dark denim. (It was 60 degrees in Chicago to start July, who would have thought it would be in the 90’s by the end of the month!) Since I’ve been itching to take these jeans out for a spin, I wore them to an al fresco dinner on a cooler night earlier this week. I kept the rest of my outfit as simple as can be – a great-fitting tank top with a little bit of texture, simple strappy sandals, and a stack of bracelets. You’re probably kind of shocked to see my hair in a messy up-do rather than my typical waves, but what can I say – It’s summertime, it’s usually pretty humid here in Chicago, and I’m relishing in the laid-back vibes of the season. Plus, I kind of felt like bouncy blonde curls didn’t really mix with ripped-up black jeans. 😉
But enough about my style psychosis, and more about the fun stuff – an Express event here in Chicago this coming week! This Thursday, August 6th, I’ll be at Express on Michigan Avenue from 6pm-9pm . There’s complimentary metallic body art and mini manicures inspired by the new collection of #ExpressJeans. So RSVP for you and a friend by emailing [email protected] with MICHIGAN AVENUE in the subject line and come out and mingle with yours truly as the DJ spins while we shop! There will be Express stylists on hand to help you find your perfect fit and exclusive promos during the event including an extra 10% off all jeans promotions (Express NEXT Members get double points on any Jeans purchase! Click here for more details). Plus, if you share your fave #ExpressJeans look on Instagram and tag it with #EXPSweeps & #EXPchicago, you’ll be entered for a chance to win a prize the day of the event. Hope to see you there! xo
