Sequins, Plaid, and (Faux) Fur

by Jessica Sturdy on December 12, 2012

When The Limited asked me to style a look to wear to a family holiday party with one of their sequin tees, I obviously obliged! Me + Sequins + Holiday Get-Togethers = No Brainer. Like I mentioned a few weeks ago, casual holiday parties with food require J.Crew Pixie Pants. (It’s that whole elastic waistband thing… Remember this post?) This sequin tee (comes in six colors!) can obviously be dressed up, but my family holiday gatherings tend to be more on the casual side. I mean, I grew up in rural Illinois. What do you expect?

Casual doesn’t have to lack style though! I decided to go for a double-tartan, layered look. I paired the sequin tee with a plaid button-front shirt, a faux fur vest, and a plaid scarf. Lots of luxe layers (faux fur & sequins) make a casual look feel a bit more glam, no?

Head to The Limited’s Facebook Page and check out my look!

Forever 21 Faux Fur Vest (old, similar here) / J.Crew Plaid/Tartan Shirt / gifted The Limited Sequin Tee / J.Crew Pixie Pants / Jones New York Suede Wedges / Target Tartan Scarf / Kate Spade Gold Bow Watch / gifted See Song Designs Bracelet / Sequin NYC Bangle / J.Crew Pavé Link Bracelet via Poshmark

Thanks for taking my pictures, Tracy!

Seriously, you have the best outfit posts! I never would have thought to layer a sequin shirt with a plaid button up, but it works! Love this idea & will be trying it out soon! I also adore your bracelets & watch! Ps: I grew up in Illinois too :)

Love this sequin top over plaid! It looks incredibly chic and not as dressy as sequins usually look! which is good for the daytime :)

Lovely outfit! I’m loving the sequin shirt, and it looks so nice paired with the fur vest and plaid shirt. I live in a small town that doesn’t ever dress up, so keeping things “under control” is a must-I.E. toning the sequins down! : )

Love this look! Being from rural Missouri our holidays are never dressed up either (I’m guilty of going in sweats). This is a great inspiration for Christmas this year!
