Sunday Scrolls: No. 170

Chicago luxury influencer Jessica Sturdy wearing a Sandro blazer, J.McLaughlin linen button down shirt, a sleek bun, and cream wide leg denim.

I started this edition #170 of Friday Finds from the airplane last week, but it was a hell of a travel day and I never got the chance to hit publish. So enjoy this version of Friday Finds that’s actually coming out on a Sunday (hence the Sunday Scrolls) and is a few weeks’ worth of my favorite finds from around the web.

God bless speedy wifi from 30,000 feet! Sometimes it hits me just how wild it is that I’m able to browse the web and get this post live while flying through the air in a metal tube with wings. 🤪 (And no, I haven’t been drinking, even though a twelve-hour delay brought me veryyyyy close to having a glass of wine at the Admirals Club.) Still going strong with my whole sober curiosity… I need to share more about that with you guys soon!

Anyway, we’re finally off to LA for a musically-themed weekend. Coachella, you ask? I wish. But this is Dave’s version of Coachella… Phish (the jam band) is playing three nights in a row at the Hollywood Bowl. I’m only going to Saturday night’s show, but I have dinner plans with a girlfriend tonight and planning to hit up the spa on Sunday.

It’s a quick trip, as we’ll be flying back on Monday, but I’m excited for a little adventure with new-ish friends!

Hope you have a great weekend! See you back here next week.

Things to Read, Watch, & Listen to

GO SEE THE AIR MOVIE! It was honestly one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time. (Granted, I don’t watch a lot of movies. 😂 But Dave is such a movie buff/snob/critic and he loved it, too.) The acting was incredible, the soundtrack was outstanding, and it was just so moving. I had goosebumps the entire time.

I ordered Shoe Dog as soon as I got home from Air! I’ve heard great things for years, but the movie inspired me to finally read it.

However, I’ll have to read it next because some girlfriends of mine just started a little book club and we’re reading this fiction book right now. I’m normally a non-fictional gal, but I think this will be good to get me out of my usual groove and reading more. I’ve yet to start it, as it just came in the mail a few days ago, but we’re not meeting for a few weeks so I’ve got some time!

On the topic of books I haven’t read yet, my friend Kate (from the Be There in Five podcast!) released the title of her second book… You can pre-order One in a Millenial here!

What Moms Really Want for Mother’s Day

Things to Shop for Your Closet

I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of New Balance 327s and finally found a cute colorway in stock!! They’re technically a ‘pre-order,’ but they’re estimated to ship by May 3rd — which is just three days away!

Boden is 20% off this weekend! Code is R7Q8. I’m obsessed with this pointelle tank, this collared sweater top, these printed platform sandals, these trouser shorts, and this easy multi-print maxi! A few more favorites that caught my eye: this smocked cami, these striped pants, this textured jacket, this navy and white dress, this oversized shirt, this t-shirt cardigan, this mini dress, this collared shirt dress, this printed silk scarf, and these wrap sandals.

The Nat Note launched a capsule collection with Dillard’s and it’s SO FREAKING GOOD!! The entire (fairly affordable!) collection reminds me of Zimmerman meets Sea and feels so unique compared to all of the other styles I’ve seen for Spring. (If you feel like you’re not relating to current fashion trends at the moment, you are definitely not alone!) My favorite pieces are this top, these natural sandals, this swim top with these bottoms, these heels, and these pants.

How perfect is this wear-with-everything summer clutch?! Under $150, too. Can’t decide which one I like best… Light Raffia, Dark Raffia, or the Black. (FYI – the strap is removable so you can use as a regular clutch or slip it over your shoulder!)

Grace Atwood launched a collection with Addison Bay! Being an Orange & Blue lover, I’m obsessed with this pullover and the matching shorts. This chic summer set and this striped workout set are also favorites.

I’m obsessed with this pink tweed blazer! So perfect with white jeans or trousers for spring. Under $200, too.

Jenn Lake launched her ninth capsule collection with Sail to Sable! Lots of blue and white dresses, which would be perfect for any upcoming baby showers. I think this pleated maxi or this cotton eyelet dress are my favorites!

This striped cardigan sweater is just so chic. I mean, how can you not love the gold buttons?!

Things to Shop for the Home

Have you ever ordered a floor lamp with absolutely nowhere to put it?! 😅 I have. I saw this lamp on sale for under $200 this week (with incredible reviews!) and I just completely impulse-purchased it. I have two floor lamps I want to replace in our condo (which is why I was browsing in the first place), but I actually don’t think this is the piece for either of those places. Soooo, who knows? I might be returning it or sending it to storage if I love it as much as I think I will.

I’ve had all things lighting on my mind lately… We got this light fixture installed in our living room and this one in Dave’s office. I absolutely love them both!

If you’re looking for a similar aesthetic, but aren’t trying to hire an electrician, I actually found this very affordable floor lamp ($130) that’s so chic!

It’s been so satisfying to see a few home projects and ideas finally come to fruition! This piece got delivered for our living room, this outdoor kitchen got delivered for our rooftop, upgraded our bathroom towels, scored this brass indoor planter on sale, and finally got a few more things ordered, too. So lots more to come on the home front!

You have to see NEST Fragrance’s RATTAN collection! It’s available in a variety of sizes in Wild Mint & Eucalyptus, Driftwood & Chamomile, and Himalayan Salt & Rose. Great Mother’s Day idea!

PS: How gorgeous is Serena & Lily’s new website?!

Things to Cook

No new recipes to share, but Dave made these chicken and veggie bowls earlier this week that were kind of like a homemade version of Chipotle, but without any cheese or sour cream so they were pretty healthy. He marinated the chicken in this dressing and I must say it was a total win! Already ordered more.

Other Things of Note

Digs with Dignity (one of my favorite local charities) is running a donation campaign for Every Mother Counts! 75% of the families they have serviced in the Chicagoland area have been led by single moms. (And a few national facts… In the US, over 80% of single-parent families are led by single moms. Of that 80%, over one-third of them live in poverty and 29% receive NO child support.) The stability of HOME is huge for single moms and I love the work that Digs with Dignity is doing to support these families. I donated on Friday and, if you’re able, would love for you to consider! You can donated on behalf of (or in memory of) your mom, which would make for a great Mother’s Day gift for the one who already has everything she needs and wants.
