I’m finally back in Chicago for a few weeks before I’m traveling again and it’s time to play catchup in a big way. Lots of content to write, way too many emails to sift through, plenty of shoots to plan, and a good amount of meetings to take, too. It’s going to be go, go, go for a bit! When I’m getting dressed for a day of meetings, I still rely on the versatile pieces that got me through when I worked in a more traditional “9 to 5” role. Classic blazers, silky blouses, dark-rinse jeans, a goes-with-everything tote, and pointed toe pumps!
Some offices only allow denim on Fridays, while pretty much anything goes at others. When I was able to wear jeans at work, dressing them up with a blouse, blazer, and pumps was the absolute easiest outfit to throw on and dash out the door. You know, on those mornings when I may have hit snooze a few too many times. 😉 You can never go wrong with a great blazer and a pair of snazzy pumps… Instant dose of motivation to get your day started!
For work, I rarely ever switched up my tote. When I did change out bags, I always managed to leave something important at home. A classic leather tote that could be worn with just about every outfit and color palette was my go-to! I recently received this embossed leather tote and it couldn’t be more perfect for the work week… The detachable crossbody/shoulder strap makes life so much easier when you’ve got your hands full, but since it’s fully removable, you can still get that classic shape for more polished settings. So many pockets on the inside and even a slip-in pocket on the outside! I love the pale taupe color, too… It goes with absolutely everything, but it’s far from boring with the embossed texture. The size is fab, too! It’s not an oversized tote bag, but it really does hold so much. My laptop and planner easily fit, along with my wallet, phone, and keys. I could even toss in a pair of flats with room to spare, too. There’s a top zipper, but you can always leave it open if you’ve got it packed to the brim for a busy day.

I guess Ivanka’s brand is trying to do some damage control! I know that I don’t (and won’t) buy her products and I’m sure I’m not the only one!
Oh you’re not. I would never give any of my hard earned money to anyone in that family!
Lovely blazer!
Love,

Love how your shoes bring a little sprinkle of magic and glam to this casual work wear outfit!

I’m with Emma I won’t buy Ivanka Trump items either. I’m surprised you continue to support her line.
Hey Jess, like some of the other commenters, I’m surprised to see you promoting Ivanka Trump’s brand right now. The bag is cute and all, but I doubt many of your readers (myself included) are keen to purchase IT products. There are so many other brands out there and I hope to see more of them on the blog moving forward!
I agree! I usually love and support your blog and outfits fully. I am surprised you’d be supportive of any Trump. Kind of a bummer.
Love blazers for the fall

I am so in love with the blazer!!
I’m with some of the other commenters who are disappointed that you’re shilling Trump products. I won’t support the Trump campaign by buying products that are all a part of the family brand, and I can’t support a blog that does.
Belle at Capitol Hill Style wrote a good post about it. http://www.caphillstyle.com/capitol/2016/10/08/state-of-the-blog-never-again.html
I’m obsessed with work wear! Love this look and the surprise of the glitter! Looking great!

That blazer is everything! I love it 🙂
I LOVE that you are showing an Ivanka product while so many other bloggers are shunning her because of who she is related to. Its unrealistic to expect her to shun her father.
