Labor Day Weekend is always so bittersweet. My birthday usually falls right around there and who can complain about a three-day weekend? But the summertime blues always seem to set in right around that same time. Sure, it’s still hot out and it’s not official fall yet, but LDW always marks the end of another summer in my mind. September usually kicks off with a bang with Fashion Week and various other projects and before you know it, it’s October and we’re already getting ready for the holiday season. Don’t you wish you could slow down time?! This summer was definitely one for the record books and I wanted to spend the last long weekend soaking up the sun and having fun with my friends. What better place than North Coast Music Festival?

Café Bustelo invited me to join them at the three-day music festival in Chicago, which ended up being a perfect coincidence because Hallie, a few other girlfriends, and I were already planning on going to see some of our favorite artists! The lineup was awesome this year… Galantis, Matoma, Juicy J, Zedd, Bassnectar, Ty Dolla $ign, Odesza, Baauer, Keys n Krates, and so many more. We went all three days, but usually just caught the last 2-3 shows of the evening. The festival is nicknamed “Summer’s Last Stand” and it really was the best way to round out the summer! Sunshine, music, and your best friends… What could be better? We totally lucked out with the weather this year, too. It was perfect – not too hot, and not too cold.
Music festivals can definitely be exhausting! But with booths like Café Bustelo’s where you can sip on free iced coffee, charge your phone, sit down and chill for a little while, and take some fun photos in the photobooth, the festival is a lot more enjoyable. It was our home base for the weekend! Plus, the iced samples of Café Bustelo were such a nice pick me up… The Café con Leche is my favorite!

I used to sometimes struggle with what to wear to festivals because “boho” isn’t really my style, but I’ve figured out that staying comfortable is the most important thing to me! I always opt for some sort of sneaker. I’ve worn sandals in the past, but with so many people around and lots of grass and dirt, I prefer to have a closed toe shoe! Depending on the weather, a light breezy dress is always my go-to. If it’s cooler at night, I’ll bring along a jacket or a long-sleeved shirt tied around my waist. And to inject a little personality, you can’t go wrong with a scarf or bandana. Here’s what I wore over the weekend…
Friday Night: Express Black Body Suit, Old Navy Jean Shorts, Joie Sneakers, Bows & Sequins Plaid Shirt (sold out, similar here), Joelle Hawkens Crossbody Bag (old, similar here & here), Dior Sunglasses
Saturday Night: Sail to Sable Dress (on sale!), Express Jean Jacket (old, similar here), Red Bandana (also love this one!), Joie Sneakers (old; similar here, here, here, & here), Gucci Crossbody, Illesteva Sunglasses
Sunday Night: Azalea Dress, J.Crew Tee, Sperrys (didn’t want to get my Stan Smiths dirty!), Gucci Crossbody, Illesteva Sunglasses
Hope your last few weekends of summer have been just as fun!

Favorite outfit of the 3 is the white dress minus the jacket. Jacket to me = winter. As a warm blooded northerner I don’t even take out my jackets from June to early October. Still in my summer outfits. Wore my white dress last Friday and plan on it summer white sundress tomorrow.
How freaking fun!
this looks so fun! xo
