Auntie Anne

My Aunt Anne was in Chicago this past weekend! My schedule finally slowed down on Sunday afternoon so we met up for dinner at Rose Angelis in Lincoln Park. The food was amazing! At the table we had caprese salads, spinach gnocchi, ravioli, manicotti, and tiramisu. I’m surprised I was able to walk out to the restaurant!

I chose a casual look for work and dinner since it was a Sunday. J.Crew Pixie Pants are my “leggings.” Don’t get me wrong, some people can pull leggings off, but they just look horrendous on me. I love the pixie pants because they are super thick and have back seams on the legs that elongate. I still like to wear them with a longer top or jacket though.

Legging Lesson: I personally don’t wear leggings. Or at least not very often. Leggings aren’t pants and it drives me nuts when people wear thin pairs of leggings in place of pants with a short top. Leggings are meant to be worn under a tunic (i.e. a longer top that is too short to be worn alone as a dress) instead of pants.

What are your thoughts on leggings?! I’d love to hear them. 🙂

Love this outfit – especially that jacket! And I totally agree with you on the legging issue…they are so 1990’s and I’m over it 🙂

I couldn’t agree with you more on the legging issue! When I see leggings I think of dance class attire from when I was younger…they aren’t PANTS! Oh & don’t get me going on “jeggings” either…ha!

LOL I’m sure I would think of the same thing if I was a dancer! Pretty similar attire!

Adorable outfit. Leggings are definitely meant to be worn with a tunic or in the privacy of your own home.- NOT as pants.

love this look!! I have to say…I love a pair of leggings, BUT if the top your wearing with your leggings doesn’t cover your ko-ka then the top is to short!! GROSS

I feel the same about leggings, dear! I hardly wear them out and about unless I have a longer shirt/tunic to cover my bum 🙂 I love these Pixie Pants – may have to get some! I’ve been looking for something exactly like this.

um…. LEGGINGS ARE NOT PANTS! I seriously want to buy billboard and put this up for all to see! LOL I’m all for leggings, they are comfy and cute…. if wore correctly. These pixie pants are great and perfect in place of leggings.

I totally agree with you! It is my absolute BIGGEST pet peeve when people wear leggings as pants! Especially when they are far from the size to be doing so! In my town, girls wear them with small fitted shirts. It’s the most horrendous thing I’ve ever seen.

I’m trying to figure out what size to order in pixie pants! People say they fit true to size but I don’t know what my true size is in jcrew. How tall are you and what size did you get so I can put it into perspective a bit!

I’ve been having the same problem. What size did you end up getting? I wear a 0 in J.Crew shorts.

I actually hate when people say leggings can’t be worn as pants! Clearly the leggings i buy are not see-through, and if you have thin legs, the body for it, then it looks fine..it looks like black jeans basically..but a million times more comfortable. i don’t know where this whole “leggings cannot be worn as pants” rule came from, because every girl at my school wears it like that.
i actually hate when they are worn with a tunic because it generally makes people look larger.
