‘Tis the Season

This fall has absolutely flown by, hasn’t it? You know what that means.. Don’t kill the messenger here, but the holidays are just around the corner. Yikes!

Don’t get me wrong, the holidays are such a fun-filled time of year. But between entertaining, having guests in town, spending time with friends and family, traveling, cooking, finding the perfect gifts, and putting the finishing touches on your celebrations, it can be so difficult to find the time to exercise. And in my case, the holidays are when I need to exercise the most! An extra slice of pumpkin pie? Of course. Another frosted cookie? Why not. Talk about over indulging! Even beyond the waistline issues during the holidays, I make it a point to find time for exercise because it’s the best stress relief for me.

To keep myself on track, I have a few simple tips that I stick to.

  1. The Early Bird Gets the Worm. It’s hard to get out of bed extra early, especially in the colder months, but if you get your workout taken care of in the morning, you don’t have to worry about anything derailing your gym plans later in the day.
  2. Do What You Love. If you don’t like running, don’t plan on running. Sounds pretty obvious, but hear me out. If you tell yourself that you’re going to go running after work, yet you really don’t enjoy running, you’re probably not going to go if you have a million other things to do. Find a workout that you do love and choose that instead!
  3. Kill Two Birds With One Stone. Instead of grabbing a drink or a bite to eat with a friend, do something active instead! Take a yoga class followed by a trip to the juice bar or catch up over a walk through the park. That way, you’ll cross one thing off of your to-do list while working out. A win, win! (If you’re taking the outdoor route, make sure you stay warm in a Climawarm Pullover!)

I love this post! I am a big fan of working out in the morning, my theory is it’s better to do it before your body can protest!

Such good advice! The cold weather and the time change has totally killed my workout schedule.

This is great! I have been struggling with workout motivation since the evenings have been getting darker earlier- would love it if you took a look at my recent post relating to this!

#3 is my go-to. Rather than meeting people for drinks I’ll always recommend an after-work hike or walk up to Coit Tower. <3

How are you liking the over the thumb shirts? I’ve been wanting to try them but I feel like they would cause odd chaffing.
