Back on Track

We’ve all done it… We’ve all fallen off the “workout wagon,” if you will, at some point or another. The key is to figure out how to get back on track after you’ve lost your routine.

I switched jobs in August, had visitors in town staying with me multiple weekends in a row, had an out-of-state wedding to attend, had New York Fashion Week festivities, and then had an 8 day work trip to top it all off. I could barely find the time to catch my breath, let alone exercise. It’s embarrassing to admit, but I think I could count the number of times I worked out in September on one hand. My clothes were fitting differently and I was getting increasingly more frustrated by the day. I typically enjoy working out and consider my almost-daily workouts my “me time.” But for whatever reason, I just couldn’t get myself back on track after slacking for a month. I needed a little kick start!

It may sound superficial at first, but getting a few new fun pieces of workout gear (including this TechFit Funnel Pullover!) really did help! Do you remember when you used to go back to school shopping in the summer? And how you were so excited to wear those new clothes to school? If you think about it, those new clothes gave you the confidence to get back to work after having the summer off. It’s the same idea! Getting a few new pieces of cold weather workout gear was like getting a breath of fresh air. It helped me feel rejuvenated and get back on track!

I’m finding it really hard right now with the season/time change and it being dark so early. I used to go running after my son went to bed at 8 p.m. Now that is impossible! My husband doesn’t want me to go after dark and I’m like, um, it’s dark at 5:30 pm! Need to sign up for a class or SOMETHING so that I don’t just hibernate all winter.

I used to be so disciplined on working out every day. It was a part of my daily routine. I got out of the habit and need to get it together. I always feel so much better when I’m exercising regularly.

It never hurts to get a few new workout outfits…that always helps jumpstart me!

I really like (I mean, like, REALLY LIKE) your pull-over! Sometimes just a crew neck top doesn’t cut it, but I don’t want a full on hoodie or a snug fit from a mock-neck , so how perfect is this?

And yeah, I totally agree with how new clothes make you more excited to do something than you otherwise might be!

    You are not alone!
I just started my routine again (after a solid two months away from the gym), and it’s tough to get back in the groove.
But I have a holiday dress calling my name, and I am determined to fit into in… properly. Lol.

The time change has totally killed my work out schedule. All I want to do after work is curl up on the sofa! Uggh! Maybe a new pair of leggings is just what I need!

I say do whatever it takes, superficial or not :). I’ve been off the wagon since May and am only now starting to build back up my workout momentum. Good for you for bouncing back so quickly.

I am in a bit of a slump right now. I was doing so well working out regularly until back to school hit. With our new routine I just find it harder and harder to get motivated!!!

I hear ya, girl. My last workout was the day of my last half marathon which was OCTOBER 20. I feel awful! New workout clothes definitely help me get back on track, as long as I can find the time to show up to the gym! Good luck to us both! 😀
