Party in the Back

by Jessica Sturdy on February 11, 2013

Wow, what a crazy week! Crazy in an absolutely amazing way, but I am exhausted! For a week now, I’ve been leaving my apartment by 8am, working a full day, running out to meetings and meet-ups over my lunch break, going to events after work, getting home at 2am, and doing it all over again! Throw a few 4am nights in the mix, too. #thecitythatneversleeps

I wore this outfit last Wednesday for a lunch with Glam and an Aquafina/Project Runway event with Hallie and Rose after work!

Glam was treating us to a blow out at Dry Bar, lunch, and manis to get glammed for New York Fashion Week. Rough life, right? You can check out my Cosmo-Tai here!

This necklace is by far my absolute favorite out of my entire collection! (Seen here and here.)

I ended up really loving this outfit for a few reasons..

1. Subtle print mixing.. My favorite! (For more lessons in mixology, see these posts — one / two / three / four / five)

2. Navy + Olive. Another favorite of mine! (See here.)

3. This safari jacket that I borrowed from Hallie! I got SO many compliments when I was wearing it.. Too bad it’s sold out, but I’m now on the hunt for the perfect army green jacket!

4. Lots of BLING! Need I say more?

BCBG Military Jacket (borrowed from Hallie) / Madewell Striped Tee / J.Crew Polka Dot Skirt

J.Crew Tights / J.Crew Mary Janes / ZARA Sequin Clutch / J.Crew Chain Necklace (old)

Sequin Pavé Horn Necklace / gifted Sequin Elephant Earrings / gifted Sequin Pavé Horn Cuff

*please email info@sequin-nyc.com to locate any of these Sequin pieces!

Michael Kors Watch / Forever 21 Bow Ringgifted Bauble Bar Pavé Link Bracelet

Thanks for taking my photos, Hallie!

I stay up until 11 too many nights in a row and I am exhausted. Maybe I am just getting old. Oh no! Love this look! That is one of my favorite clutches. :)

Random (and belated) question: Are you wearing black tights & heels with your skirt? I ask because I have the same skirt but in pencil format and never know what color tights/hose to wear with it. I really like your outfit, though, so maybe black is okay!

Reply

Jessica Sturdy February 15, 2013 at 3:18 pm

Hi Erin,

I’m actually wearing navy tights + navy patent heels!

If you’re not comfortable with black tights with the navy pencil skirt, maybe try a gray? A nude textured tight would also be cool!

Erin @ Loop Looks February 15, 2013 at 6:13 pm

Maybe I’ll have to see if J. Crew has any navy tights on clearance in the stores. You make them look totally sophisticated! I was worried that navy would look too schoolgirl-ish.
