Downtime

by Jessica Sturdy on January 23, 2013

I apologize if you were following me on Twitter over the weekend. I came down with the flu on Saturday and I’m a big baby when it comes to being sick!

It was quite a sight… Me wearing yoga pants, Sperrys, and my North Face Parka (It was 50 degrees, but I was freezing!) walking to Duane Reade, crying on the phone with my mom. “I take vitamins every single day, I eat my veggies, I take Airborne and Emergen-C multiple times a week, THIS SHOULDN’T HAPPEN TO ME!”

Ya know, just throwing myself a little pitty party on 14th Street! ;)

It hit me like a ton of bricks.. Within a matter of hours on Saturday, I went from being 100% fine to full-blown flu-like symptoms. WTF! Of course that happened on a 3-day weekend. PSA: Go get your flu shot!

I spent the rest of the weekend in bed. Re-watched GIRLS Season 1, re-watched a season of SATC, re-watched a season of Entourage, watched The Carrie Diaries pilot, etc. All I can say is THANK GOD our internet got re-installed Saturday morning. HALLELUJAH! I would have gone crazy.

Then came the iPad browsing…

I realized I don’t have that many cool and/or useful apps. I mainly just check email and use Safari when I’m on my iPad. So I need your help… What are your favorites?!

I obvi use all of the social media apps — Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, etc. Hallie recommended Flipboard a while ago and I love it for industry news!

I also came across the Swarovski Elements app which was obviously gorgeous and filled with lots of sparkle!

I’ll occasionally browse the Style.com app, as well as The Cut, but I’ve got to know… What are your favorite iPad apps?!

Shop Style would be the perfect app for you. I’m obsessed with it.

Hope you’re feeling better. Sounds like a fantastic movie/tv fest to me :)

Meant to ask, what’d you think of Carrie diaries? I watched the pilot for work last winter and didn’t like it. Am I crazy?!

Aww I like it! It’s not my favorite series, but it’s entertaining! Caught up on the 2nd episode earlier tonight. I’ll keep watching it because I love Carrie / SATC! Plus, I’ve been told ASR is my twin.. ;)

Try Pulse. You can get all your local and national news in one stop.

Get The Collection – it’s NYTimes Fashion app, and it’s fabulous. I could also not live without VSCO (a photo editing app), Songza for music, TaskRabbit (when I don’t want to leave my apartment to run errands – so key when you’re sick), and the PBS app to watch the latest Downton episodes without commercials. Hope you’re feeling better!

If you’re on online shopper (like me!), Slice is a great app.

I would kill for some downtime to watch all those shows, even if it meant I was sick in bed! (Watch me eat my words). – J

Glad you’re feeling better. The flu sucks. I’ve been sick on and off for the past few months, thanks to my son who is like a petrie dish!!! I watched a bit of the Carrie Diaries and I liked it. They had the series finally to SATC on last night and i loved it. I loved how it ended, plus i like how it was in Paris.
