Happy Monday! Gosh, it feels like Thanksgiving was just yesterday. Where does the time go?!
I spent the long weekend in Alexandria, Virginia visiting my aunt for the holiday. It was SUCH a fun weekend! I remember really liking Old Town Alexandria and Georgetown when I visited in 2007, but OMG — I want to move there. Like tomorrow. L.O.V.E.
I just can’t get over the fall foliage in the DC area. AMAZINGLY GORGEOUS. Weeks past peak and the leaves absolutely blow NYC out of the water. Times 5,000.
I wore this festive ensemble for an afternoon of wandering the Georgetown area. The very first J.Crew store I ever went in was the one on M Street in Georgetown so we had to pay a visit… I guess you can say that’s where it all began! We also stopped in Vineyard Vines, Madewell, LOFT, Anthropologie, etc. to check out the weekend sales. Lots of window shopping! ๐
The line to Georgetown Cupcake was INSANELY long, but I really wanted to try GTCC as a part of my pumpkin cupcake crawl. I know there is a NYC location, but I’ve yet to make it in and it felt more authentic to have my first one in D.C. We weren’t going to wait the 45 minutes in the freezing cold, so I took my aunt to Sprinklesย down the street because she was a first-timer. We, of course, had the pumpkin!
In true cupcake-connoisseurย fashion, we swung back by Georgetown Cupcake right after they opened on Sunday morning. No line, woo hoo!ย And yes, their pumpkin spice cupcake is to die for. The Soho location will be seeing a lot more of me, that’s for sure!
I love the leather detailing on this Juicy Couture top. Good thing there are some gold tassels because I definitely forgot to put on jewelry before I left my aunt’s house. I think the cold weather freezes my brain some days…

Love everything about this look – burgundy, plaid & lace = perfection!! Wish we still had the colorful leaves on our trees here, but the snow has hit in NY now ๐

So Nice to meet you in Old Town! Glad your time here in our city was fun, Gtown is and has always been the best place to shop, hands down.
You picked a great spot to take photos. Your green top and plaid scarf look great against the red leaves!

Next time you’re down in Georgetown, you have GOT to try Baked & Wired cupcakes. I think they totally beat Georgetown Cupcakes. They are large and dense but never dry ๐
Oh girl, I did!! I got the pumpkin one, SO GOOD! They put pumpkin in the cupcake batter so it’s extra moist. Pumpkin in the cream cheese frosting, too. It will be in my pumpkin cupcake crawl roundup! ๐
AWESOME. That sounds amazing. My sis lived in DC for two years and became quite the connoisseur, too ๐
So great to have you with me for Thanksgiving!! I knew you would see the area with new eyes post your college years. So fun playing your photog! The colors were perfect to compliment your festive outfit! Next fall you will have to visit when colors are in peak. Soak up your first holiday season in NYC! ๐
I’m so glad you loved DC! I take all of my out-of-towners to GTCC. Here’s a tip: Call ahead or place an order online for pickup…then you still get the experience of going to the shop, but get to bypass the line! (Red Velvet in Chinatown is also amazing!)
Thankfully my aunt is a GTCC frequenter, so she knew all about ordering ahead! We were just kind of playing it by ear on Saturday. I’ll have to check out Red Velvet in Chinatown next time I am in the area!
Great outfit. Very Christmasy!!!!

Glad you had a great Thanksgiving!! My sister just went to GTCC on a recent trip and said their cupcakes are the best- why she didn’t send me any is still a question I ask daily.

Love the outfit! The red leaves in the background make it even more beautiful! I am going to try to go to Target tomorrow to get that plaid scarf! I think it looks great with the LV. I’m originally from TX, and this is my second fall here in VA. We actually are about a five minute drive from Alexandria, and this is the one thing that I love about VA-experiencing real seasons. In TX we have warm and hot weather, and the leaves stay green pretty much year ’round. The red leaves are by absolute favorite. If you’re ever back in the area, there’s a Georgetown Cupcake in Bethesda which is a simple train ride and short walk to get there. I refuse to stand in the line in Georgetown. Too long!
The colors are beautiful in these pictures! You got your leaves!!!
this outfit is great head to toe. love the mixture of prints and texture.
