Shimmer + Chambray

by Jessica Sturdy on November 18, 2011

When Amber from Real Girl Glam first posted about Inspired Fall Fashion, I knew I had to participate! I used to heavily rely on magazines and designer ads for style inspiration, but nowadays it’s real people that inspire me. Reading other style blogs is my main form of seeking outfit inspiration, especially when I feel like I’m in a funk or a rut. I always keep a little notebook with me to write down all of my outfit ideas as they pop into my head. Then when I’m having a morning where I feel like I have nothing to wear, I get out the notebook. There are some days that I will scour Pinterest for hours and jot down ideas. I actually found my inspiration for this outfit on Pinterest.

I saw this photo and knew I needed to pair sequins with one of my chambray shirts. I love the look of the two paired together. It’s the perfect mix of sparkle and grunge.

I had to add some warmth to the outfit considering it is now in the low 30s in Chicago. BRRR! I was SO cold taking these pictures. (See what I go through for this blog?!) I simply added a black scarf and an extra layer with a long sleeve t-shirt. I experimented with adding a thin tissue-weight turtleneck underneath, but it just felt too stuffy and covered up.

ARM PARTY.

Sequin Top: Express

PS- How do you like these night-time pictures?! My street just got like 25 new street lights so it’s super bright and relatively easy to take pictures! :)

Oooh I love everything happening in this outfit. I saw your tweet about removing the leopard scarf, but I don’t think that would’ve been too much. My motto “It’s never enough until it’s too much.” Great outfit!!

I need to get involved with chambray. Mixing them up with sequins is such a stellar idea and you pull it off marvellously!
