Think Pink

(image)

It’s October so that means it is time to think PINK. Pink is one of my absolute favorite colors and I love when October rolls around and pink is everywhere. But it’s not just about the color. FACT: Each year it is estimated that nearly 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die. Approximately 1,700 men will also be diagnosed with breast cancer and 450 will die each year. Here’s some more info about breast cancer.

You may have noticed a new button on my right sidebar, Blogging for Breast Cancer A-wear-ness. (More info.) Basically, bloggers are encouraged to wear (at least) one pink item a day for the month of October. Melissa hosted this challenge last year, too. Some bloggers chose to take part the whole month, some a week, some one outfit per week, and some just sprinkling pink in here and there.

So you’ll be seeing a little bit of pink from me all month! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m very excited to participate in this challenge and spread awearness.

But before I start showering you with pink posts, I thought I would share some cute finds that support breast cancer awareness and research!

The New York Times Little Pink Book of Crosswords. $11 at Barnes & Noble.

Philosophy Shower for the Cure. $20 at Philosophy.

Tweezerman Tweezers. $20 on Tweezerman.com

Clarisonic Limited Edition Skin Care Brush. $195 at Drugstore.com. I want to try this so bad, but it’s just not in the budget right now. The pink one is perfect.

KitchenAid “Cook for the Cure” Artisan Stand Mixer. $400 at Macy’s. (I want one of these SO SO SO bad! Seriously, it will be the first item on my future wedding registry.)

KitchenAid also released a 10th Anniversary mixer in a new raspberry color that looks super cool. Check it out here, along with the rest of the “Cook for the Cure” items!

Random Facts about my Breast Cancer Awareness Month purchases:
– When I was in the market for my first CHI flatiron approximately 7 years ago, I waited until October to buy a pink one.
– When I was switching banks five years ago, I waited until October to open my checking account to have a pink debit card. (Then PNC bought my bank and I now have a bright orange one. Great for Illini pride, not so great for my pretty-in-pink thing. Still bitter about it.)
– I have two pink Igloo Playmate coolers. Not sure why.

Basically when it comes to pink products that support the cause, I will buy them. I urge you to help support breast cancer awareness is whatever way you can! THINK PINK! ๐Ÿ™‚

I have the pink Clarisonic and love it (especially because it’s pink!). I soo soo soo want the pink Kitchen Aid. Absolutely on my ‘Must Have’ list! If we are leopard twinsie’s we are pink twinsies too because my flat iron has pink breast caner ribbons all over it. I love the pink challenge too. I will have to try and do a few posts with some pink!
