Embracing the Unexpected

Violet ikat scarf and leopard loafers? Sure, why not?!

I’ve been quite the risk taker lately. Sometimes I feel like I’m too matchy-matchy, but I’ve been putting together the most random things lately. If it looks like you shouldn’t wear it together, I have been.

And I’ve been loving it. I don’t know if it’s the rebel in me or what, but I really like the unexpectedness.

I wore this last Friday on my last day in NYC. I needed a comfortable travel outfit, but still acceptable for walking around all day since we had a late flight back to Chicago. After checking out of the hotel, we walked up to Central Park to do some sightseeing. I didn’t get to Central Park last time I was in NYC so it was on my must-do list this time around. From a map standpoint, I knew it was huge, but it’s really amazing to have such a vast, peaceful place in such a busy city. I would spend lots of time in the park if I lived in New York, it’s wonderful!

I like the mixing of unexpected patterns and I think it looks great. That’s what personal style is all about. Love the shoes!

I’m in love with your flats and I’m so pissed because I should have bought some similar ones from ideeli and I didn’t. 🙁

I love them, but they are going to take some breaking in. Such bad blisters, but I have that problem a lot with Steve Madden shoes. Should have gotten the Sam Edelman Alvin pair.

It’s the “pretzel knot.” Maybe I’ll do a scarf tying video soon! 🙂

Good fashion is all about mixing prints! I love the leopard print loafers, I’ve been eyeing them for myself. The exact same pair by Steve Madden, actually, because I walk past the windows on State Street all the time.

I would recommend getting a different pair. These are very cute, but not so comfortable. And if you’re buying flats, they should be comfortable or you might as well be wearing heels!
