NYC Pt. 3: Fashionably Late

I’m so excited to tell you about my recent trip to New York City! My posts this week will tell you all about my adventures in the city that never sleeps. I was there Tuesday through Friday and I was exhausted by the time Friday rolled around. Let’s start with Tuesday…

I absolutely have to be comfortable when traveling, especially by air. Layers are essential for me because flights tend to be cold, but airports and security can be kind of stuffy. You just never know what you’re going to get when traveling so I always make sure to have a couple of items to add or subtract.

I decided to start my traveling outfit with my Paige jeggings because they’re so comfortable. I added my Sam Edelman boots (found these babies on sale thanks to My Dressy Ways) because they’re easy to slip on and off through security but still add a little bit of polish. The tee shirt was a no-brainer– there isn’t anything less restricting than a tee shirt. Threw on a blazer, scarf, and hat and hit the road!

Our flight into La Guardia was delayed over an hour because of the rain in New York. I don’t think it ever stopped raining on Tuesday or Wednesday. Yuck! Once we got our bags and waited in the ridiculously long taxi line, we checked into our hotel in Midtown. We stayed at the Wyndham Garden Inn at 36th & 8th, which was a good central location for everything we wanted to do.

We decided to get manicures at Luxe Den after we checked in. I needed my nails to be in pristine condition for the conference the next day, duh! 🙂 I was worried that a NYC manicure would be pretty pricey, but it was $12. Pleasant surprise!

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that I’m obsessed with Tao. If you are confused, please read this post to catch up. Tao is my favorite restaurant EVER and I was under the impression that it only existed at the Venetian, but I was wrong. Ellen found out that there was also a NYC location so our dinner destination Tuesday evening was cut out for us!

The menu and most of the decor was the exact same, but the NYC location doesn’t have the fabulous smell. 🙁 Ellen and I agreed that the food was just as good as Las Vegas. We tried a couple of different things this time–vegetable egg rolls, miso soup, pad thai, and a delicious cocktail!

We walked for a few blocks on 58th, snapped some pictures by the Bergdorf Men’s Store, and hopped in a cab back to the hotel. We were kind of lame that night, but we were exhausted from traveling and I had to get my beauty sleep before the IFB Conference the next morning. Check back tomorrow to hear all about it! 🙂

Love this outfit! It looks so great. I love the hat with the scarf! Can’t wait for some cold weather here…. It’s always so hot and it’s much more fun for me to dress in the winter than in the summer heat. Can’t wait to hear about IFB!
